Pink Floyd To Reunite One More Time!

David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright are to re-unite for the second time in 24 years, to attend the 2005 UK Music Hall Of Fame ceremony. We can reveal that Channel 4 TV and Initial will tomorrow announce that Pink Floyd are amongst the inductees to the Hall Of Fame.

The four of them will attend the ceremony, to be held in November. It will be only the second time in almost a quarter of a century that the whole group has appeared on stage together.

Earlier this year Pink Floyd delighted millions of fans worldwide by reforming for a remarkable one-off performance at Live 8. The band set aside their differences to help raise awareness of world poverty and to lobby the leaders at the G8 summit.

The Live 8 show was the first time they had all appeared together since the final performance of The Wall at Earls Court on June 17th, 1981.

Pink Floyd have been selected for induction by the UK Music Hall of Fame Steering Group - a panel comprising over 60 respected artists, music journalists, broadcasters and music industry executives.

Malcolm Gerrie, Chief Executive of Initial and Chair, UK Music Hall of Fame Steering Group, said: "Pink Floyd’s induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame is in recognition of their extraordinary achievement in music spanning five decades. Their attendance at the Induction Ceremony this November will represent a landmark occasion."

It was announced in July that legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan will also be amongst this year’s inductees, whilst John Peel will receive 2005’s Honorary Membership of the UK Music Hall of Fame in acknowledgement of his exceptional contribution to British music.

Last year’s Induction Ceremony saw The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, Queen, Cliff Richard & The Shadows, The Rolling Stones, U2 and Robbie Williams become the inaugural members of the UK Music Hall of Fame. The highly respected founder of Island Records, Chris Blackwell, was awarded Honorary Membership for services to the music industry.

UK Music Hall of Fame returns to Channel 4 television this November with a packed two-week season of music programming. This will launch with a three-and-a-half-hour prime-time show - The Biggest Selling Artists Of The Millennium, a comprehensive countdown based on album sales since 2000. Other highlights will include John Peel’s Record Box - an exclusive insight into the private record collection of the renowned DJ and broadcaster, marking the first anniversary of his death; and The World’s Greatest Gigs, a one-hour countdown of the twenty seminal gigs of all time.

The season will climax with the live UK Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, broadcasting as a 120-minute special on Channel 4.

Though I guess for an induction ceremony they can manage to put aside their differences again for a little while. I don't imagine them doing regular concerts again. Then again ... you never know ...

I wonder if there will be any way for anyone on this side of the pond to see the show?

Now that I think of it, they're not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, are they? Hmmm ...

I saw them twice in '94 and they where awesome then too!

Although I would love to see new stuff by them I just don't think it's gonna happened. Roger has said he wouldn't do it. Maybe a one off thing like at Live 8 but that's it. David Gilmour has said the same thing and hew was the one holding up the Live 8 reunion not Roger W.

... If anything I think we'd see a Gilmour, Wright, Mason Floyd again before a full fledged reunion but than again I never thought the last one would happened so you never know...

These guys are smart enough to keep their mouths shut until soemthing is FOR REAL SURE. They could be doing something right now for all we know. They are very secretive.

With Waters saying this, I wouldn't be surprised if we see something happen in terms of an album. Nobody ever thought they'd ever get back together in any capacity, and if Waters is willing, I'll bet the others could be persuaded for one last go

I don't know...I figured David Gilmour would be the more reluctant one at this point. But, who knows? In this day and age, a band can make an album without being in the same room together...or the same city, for that matter. Floyd was great with Waters...but they were damn good without him. If this does happen, I wonder if the magic will still be there? Everyone's expectations for a new album would be so high, it would be extremely tough to live up to.

I can't remember where and I couldn't find it but I swear I read an article where a week or so before The Wall came out that Roger Waters said in an interview that they didn't have much materiel and that there wouldn't be anything new anytime soon.

You just never know with these guys. At the very least we know that David Gilmour is working on a solo project that both Nick and Richard have contributed to. Roger is also working on a solo project. Both solo projects have been very hush hush and secretive with the exception of Roger releasing an IMO very weak song on the internet about a year ago, now with the Live 8 reunion, Nick and Roger palling around, the induction into the UK hall of fame, there were reports in London p of David and Roger having dinner together in a popular restaurant last week ... maybe it's all been a secret master plan to build anticipation and rumors to come out with one more major Pink Floyd release with Roger back in the fold.... I can dream can't I. ;D

developed and the band knowing sort of "pre-dark side of the moon"
when we were a "we happy few", you know, we were a band of
brothers working..working through our stuff, through the night,
hacking our way up and down m1 in the old transit van, and
that was a real kind of comraderie and...and joy in it.

mh: a lot of people are going to want to know whether there is a
chance of a reunion...a tour...or a band album, following live8.

what you're asking would i go back and make a record with those 3 guys?
oh, i guess so... yeah, i mean, all things been equal there's no
reason why i shouldn't want to do that though i've sorta got used
to not having to fight my way through a great miasma of opposition.
however, having said that, maybe if i came up with an idea and
approached them, i dont know, maybe they'd say "yeah ok, that's
well, that sounds fine to me".

and again, we keep reading in the papers about offers of, i don't know,
150 million pounds, i read somewhere, to..for pink floyd to tour
again.
