I saw STYX is Concert last Friday night ..I enjoy the show however Styx seems to need to do something the show seems to be rushed like they just want to get it over with and move on to the next city..Peter Framton was on the ticket and I saw him last year great show by him to but the show I saw last year he took more time to work the show the guy in STYX that took Dennis Deyoungs place is fair but Dennis has a lot better Vocals anyone seen STYX latley what did you think of the concert?

I SAW THEM A COUPLE YEARS BACK. KILLER SHOW! Same here. I thought Lawrence Gowan (DeYoung's replacement) was good. His voice isn't quite as good as DeYoung's, but he's a better keyboardist and more energetic showman. On thing I found interesting is that while the other members often make fun of "Mr Roboto" in interviews, they played it in a medley at both shows I saw. The 2 shows I saw WITH DeYoung, they didn't play it at all .

I saw Styx last year, but it was around the time that JY's wife had just had an aneurysm, which really took it's toll on them last year ... Strange thing is, I've not heard anymore about her condition ...? Here's the other thing, Styx tour probably more dates than I think any other US name band I know! Their tour date listings, constantly look endless, always wonder how the hell they ever have time to record new albums?! I thought they were great, although Tommy looked pretty tired then, they really should try and take a break ... I don't think Styx fans would ever quit on them, so I don't undertsand why they don't? Lawrence Gowan I think is an excellent replacement - Funnily enough I was only aware of his solo work probably about a month or so before he was announced as DeYoung's replacement. I've seen Dennis DeYoung on 2 occasions over the last 4 years, both times backed by a full band and full orchestra. Both times Mr Roboto was played, very entertaining too! He still incredibly hit's those notes, but that's probably more to do with the fact that he does very few tour dates these days. I missed Styx this year, not through choice, but due to lack of cash. Hope to catch them next time. Al

On thing I found interesting is that while the other members often make fun of "Mr Roboto" in interviews, they played it in a medley at both shows I saw. The 2 shows I saw WITH DeYoung, they didn't play it at all . The Roboto segment of the medley is pretty short... more of a link between songs. I don't think the song Roboto is what they hated as much as being dragged into the whole silly project. At least when the Who did a theme album Townsend wrote all the songs. DeYoung expected Shaw and JY to write songs for HIS project. I guarantee you won't hear Babe..... Anyway, they need to do something with their show. They still play great, but they are doing the same show they did in 2007, and it is not a long set (75-80 minutes), though Kansas only gives about an hour.... They need to get rid of the medley and play the whole Midnight Ride or Great White Hope, or Half Penny Two Penny........
