One of my favourite albums: one that still stands up today.
I recall Hagar being not too impresses at the amount of echo than Schon used on his guitar though!
I prefer this band to Van Hagar, actually. Sorry they didn't carry on.
Loved to have seen the video. Never knew one existed.

Got my first vhs video machine about the same time MTV started. So I do have proff that MTV did in fact at one time play music.

By the way, I've got a cassette by Sammy Hagar that has Eddie Van Halen Halen playing bass on all the tracks. Anybody here heard that one? It's one of my favorites by Sammy. I can't find the cover though otherwise I'd post it. It has Sammy jumping in the air with his head kinda down covered with a mop of hair. It has a cool song that is about "vision quest" which is a North American Indian concept of spiritual nature. It is MAMMOTH SIZED COMPOSITION, I absolutely love it. Another great track on it is the one where the lyrics describe his car as the "last form of sanctuary", behind "my blacked out glass". I love that tape. I hope I can get a Cd of it. The whole album is solid, and way better than average.

Eddie playing bass all wold & Sammy telling him to calm down and play it like a bass. Thought it would have been better to let Eddie go wild on the bass, lmao. But Bill Church is and was a better bass player then Eddie & Michael Anthony for that matter. Didn't they let the fans name this one? A contest or something like that?

I don't have much information from the cassette it's simply labeled "Sammy Haggar". Geffen Records 1987, produced by Sammy Haggar and Edward Van Halen. Engineered and co-produced by David Thoener. Song List: Side OneWhen the Hammer Falls Hands and Knees Give to Live Boys' Night Out Returning Home Side 2 Standin' at the Same Old Crossroads Privacy Back Into You Eagles Fly What They Gonna Say NowAll terrific, really. I didn't have a clue that Eddie was involved with it until I finally read the thing. The bass playing is plenty fine and not all that remarkable. Just good bass playing (imo). -trexx

I have this release on cassette. Originally, it was simply titled 'Sammy Hagar'. A while later the cover was re-worked a little and it was called "I Never Said Goodbye." He owed his label one more release after joining Van Halen...and this was it.
It is a solid effort. I think it contains some of Sammy's best guitar work...ever. Personally, I found Eddie's bass work a bit distracting-he should have toned it down a little. (I agree with Jim 100%...Bill Church was better.) All in all though, I like it. Not too bad for a "throwaway", which was what it was-just a "give my label a release and be done with my contract" deal.

This also was a contractual obligation record Jimi's Band Of Gypsys lp was put out to cover the coart setelment from a law suit. Before he got famous he would sign contract with anyone for a few buck's. No one did anything with him till Chas Chandler had enough forsight to see a potential. When he hit stardom. All the c*ckroach's came out of the wood work. So the settlement was. Make a record for these guys, then move on. During the court case all of Jimi's royaltys from lp sales were put into an escrow account. So he was playing concert's just to eat. This cd came out later The tracks from the original are way better. And dispite what people say Jimi was not putting together the Band BAND OF GYPSYS, it was his friend Buddy Mills & Billy Cox helping him to get the court case settled. According to sources, the last show, at the end. Witness's heard Jimi saying God I'm glad this is over. Critics latched onto that saying he hated Buddy Miles (you know how critics are, lmao) I look at it as one of the finest moments where friends came together to help a brother.

Very interesting. Thanks, Scott and JaminJim. What a trip how that stuff goes, eh?
Yeah, about the Sammy-Eddie one, I know if I could find it, the cover art it is different as you stated. Mine was with a white background and I think a similar jumping pose with his face less visible.
