In regards to an earlier post when I mentioned Little Willy being an old favourite, I started to think back a little further to earlier times and it occured to me that there was a time where music had a big impact on me as well...most notably, my first Party!
Question is, do you first of all remember your first party, or dance that you attended, and if you do, what was the music of the day that you danced to or at least had the chance to listen to?
In 1971, I recall being invited to this party which included just about everyone from our class at the the time, along with others from grade 7 and 8 as well. There were a couple of so called "chaperones" in attendance at the time as well in the form of 17 or 18 year old teenagers. They did a hell of a job I must say in at least getting us to dance whether we wanted to or not...hahaha.
Some of the tunes I can recall being played were... Bad Moon Rising, Yellow River, Yummy Yummy Yummy, Hey Tonight, Joy To The World, Draggin' The Line, Sweet City Woman along with a host of other tunes from previous years.
This was the first opportunity that I had to dance...with a GIRL!!!...and the main reason most of us guys went to it was because we heard there was free "pop & chips"! Night turned out good though, and not only did it provide me with new found respect for music, but also allowed me to walk away with a whole new perspective of the opposite sex...hahaha!
Give us your thoughts...it's been a long time, surely you must have some tales to tell???
Thanks Kim

Hard to really say. My first party? Probably "Band On The Run" when I was around 6 or 7.
My first knock-down, drag-out, keg-floating, everyone-got-muddy party where there was not a sober person there? Where my little '82 Honda Civic was the only car that could get out of the mud because it literally could float on it? AC/DC, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Priest, Metallica.

I have no idea...anyway...I am almost always the DJ at any party, so every song played is memorable to me...
If I had to choose one song that I remember in particular...I would have to say Gravity by Max Webster...had not heard it before that night, and was feeling very good and there is a part in the middle of the song that sounds like something is dropped on the floor, and I was looking all over for it...it was kind of funny after I realized what was going on...

The first party I remember hosting, I played a lot of Sabbath, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and Deep Purple. Everyone thought I was freakin' nuts because all they were into was Kiss. And I didn't own any Kiss. Nobody thought I knew jack-sh*t about music since I didn't have any Kiss. So, they thought I was nuts for playing all this "weird" music...and I thought they were all crazy for being so "into" Kiss...Helluva' party.

-UFO- 'Strangers in the Night' ...That's the live one!
-Rush 'Farewell to Kings'
-Super Tramp 'Breakfast in America'
I was Sixteen at Camie's house... If I remember correctly, my friends and I roughed up the dude that kept putting Super Tramp on... telling him, "We get enough of the high pitched wimpy album on the radio! Ya damn puss!"
