What bands did a member or members leave and form a new band nearly as good as the original?
I'm thinking:
Judas Priest and K.K.'s Priest
Helloween and Gamma Ray
Black Sabbath and Ozzy (or Dio for that matter)
Accept and U.D.O
Outlaws and Henry Paul Band
Uhm, I'm sure there's more......

Max Webster ….I can’t say enough about how much I love this band…But after Lead Singer/Guitarist Kim Mitchell left Max Webster to start a solo career and I love Kim’s solo career just as much….
New York Dolls are one of my favorite bands….While lead singer David Johansen released a few good solo albums which I love….it was after the Dolls Split up and Guitarist Johnny Thunders and drummer Jerry Nolan from the Dolls formed Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers and their album L.A.M.F. Is one of my favorite all-time records
