My wife & I went to a club in Ohio to see a local band and...there was no soundboard! There was a guy walking around the bar with an Ipad with all the levels on it! How long has this been going on?  !!! |

I have heard of sound being done this way, but I've never witnessed it before. That would make me feel old too!

That has been going on for several years. The technology is great because the sound guy can walk around the room and get an idea of the sound in various spots and adjust the mix accordingly. Basically what you have is a digital console at the front of house that is bluetooth compatible so you can use your Ipad or tablet as the controller when not at the board. Behringer I think was one of the first companies to start doing this with their X series consoles.
