Somebody school me! I say "Grunge-era" because I am sure that some of my choices won't technically be "Grunge", but if they are from the era (mid 1990's) and are in the ballpark musically I am going to count them. Besides, I'm sure if I like it, it's not technically "Grunge".

I know most people here would put Collective Soul on their list, but that isn’t really grunge. So here is my list (today):
1. The Day I Tried to Live- Soundgarden 2. Rearviewmirror- Pearl Jam 3. Wooden Jesus- Temple of the Dog 4. Jesus Christ Pose- Soundgarden 5. Yellow Ledbetter- Pearl Jam 6. Rotten Apple- Alice in Chains 7. Mayonaise- The Smashing Pumpkins 8. Would?- Alice in Chains 9. Breed- Nirvana 10. Like Suicide- Soundgarden

I'm gonna pass on this list. I call Grunge garbage/noise.

Here's what I came up with:
10-Cumbersome by Seven Mary Three. Never liked this song much, but my cover band used to play it and I learned to appreciate it. With this list, that's good enough for #10.
9-Celebrity Skin by Hole. Same as above, just a slightly better tune IMO.
8-Higher by Creed. I hated this song at the time, but damn if it ain't stuck in my head. Not bad now that I don't hear it all the time.
7-Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down. I know this is on the outskirts both musically and time period (came out in 2000), but, to my ears, it all sounds the same.
6-Only Happy When It Rains by Garbage. At least this one was within the Grunge time frame. Sounds Grunge to me.
5-Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. I actually liked this song when it first came out. My problem with it is that record execs and radio programers seemed to think that anything that didn't sound like this had to go. A fine song and, to this day, the only Nirvana song I can stand to listen to.
4-My Hero by The Foo Fighters. I like the Foo Fighters much better than Nirvana. Probably because Foo Fighters aren't really Grunge. So what, Dave Grohl was in Nirvana and they are undeniably Grunge, so it counts!
3-Alive by Pearl Jam. I hate Pearl Jam, but my cover band used to do this one as well and damn if it wasn't fun to play! We turned this into a sort-of Grunge "Free Bird".
2-Until It Sleeps by Metallica. What? Metallica Grunge? Well, what song does "Until It Sleeps" resemble more: "Creeping Death" or "Jeremy"? You be the judge.
1-Machine Head by Bush. Again, you could argue that this is too good to be Grunge. I'm not even sure I would call this song Grunge, but most of their catalog sure sounds Grunge to me....and it was in the mid 1990's, so I'm counting it!
Honorable mention:
Hold My Hand by Hootie And The Blowfish. I almost put this #1, but I figured Spacel0rd would find out where I live and hunt me down and shoot me! Seriously, when I first heard this song I thought, "Damn, Pearl Jam finally came out with a song I like!"

Yes. Yes I would. When I first heard Hootie it took me all of 12 seconds to call the radio station and say "Hootie blows!"

...and I'm shocked you had no Collective Soul. I could never get into them. That's another one of those bands that people think I should like, but I just don't and never did. I did consider them, but after listening to the snippets of "Shine" and "December" on iTunes, I decided that I actually like "Cumbersome" and "Celebrity Skin" more. I also nearly put on "Disarm" by Smashing Pumpkins. I love that song, but I don't know that it's really in the ballpark musically.

It was the CB Radio handle for the Cops on the tv show C.H.I.P.S. I would've replied! I don't always sign in, but I usually check in at least every other day. I would've never guessed that answer though. Neat bit of trivia.
