I was 26 the last time I was able to buy a new Soundgarden CD. I’m now 43. So, it felt good sitting outside of Best Buy waiting for them to open so I could buy the new disc. It made me feel 26 again. And even though the album may not be filled with radio-friendly “hits” I love it. There really isn’t any “Black Hole Sun” or “Burden in My Hand” on it.
I’ll say this, though: Chris Cornell shows he can still sing. I really didn’t think he had it in him any longer.
In all, the album has a weird, trippy feel to it. Even the hard rockers are a little weird.
There IS one song, Halfway There, that sounds like a left over from a solo Chris Cornell CD. It’s a weak track that breaks the mood of the rest of the disc.
I don’t know if there are other Soundgarden fans out there….but there’s my two cents. If you liked Down on the Upside or Superunknown, this would be an enjoyable listen.
This song here could have been included on Superunknown:

I just recently got the new Soundgarden disc, & I really like it. It sure beats the hell outta the New Kiss or Aerosmith discs IMO.

That, the new Sword and new Murder By Death have been in constant circulation in my car. Thank God for interesting music still being made.
