Heard great things about this band. BUt I know that Hughie died and for me that would be the highlight of going to see them. Are they worth going to see even if he is not around anymore? Please let me know, thank you.

They are now the Henry Paul Band performing as The Outlaws. If you go in knowing that, it ain't a bad show. You will hear "There Goes Another Love Song", "Hurry Sundown" , "Ghost Riders" and "Green Grass..." but they will all be sung by Henry Paul who sounds NOTHING like Hughie Thomasson. Also, former Henry Paul Band guitarist Billy Crain is playing Hughie's parts on guitar and is not really up to the task. Great guitar player, but has a totally different style and sound than Hughie Thomasson had. Song wise, those 4 songs are the only Hughie songs you will hear and they will suck. The rest of the night is devoted to Henry Paul's Outlaws songs, a few Henry Paul Band songs and new songs that sound more like Blackhawk (Henry Paul's 1990's Country band) than classic Outlaws. If you go in with those expectations they ain't bad at all, if you go in expecting a classic Outlaws guitar war, you will leave disappointed.
Mary Thomasson, Hughie's widow has been trying to sue to keep these guys from using the Outlaws name for about 3 years now. She's run out of money to pay lawyers. Last I heard, this band can use the name to tour, but not to record.

I will be passing on this show. Not the type of band I want to see and I think Hughie would have been very upset with the direction that the band has taken.
Thank you Jesse for your input.

Classic Outlaws:
Current Outlaws:
You be the judge. Not necessarily bad, but sounds more like a cover band than The Outlaws. IMO

Thanks for the comparison Jesse.
We have a cover band up my way called Fender Bender that does a way better version of the song then the band billing itself as "The Outlaws"
