This band just keeps climbing up on the "Jesse Charts", slowly becoming one of my favorite bands. True story: I am currently working on a Wal-mart expansion in Quakertown, PA. Thursday around 2:30, I'm getting ready to leave and am going to my truck parked behind the store. I see a tour bus going through the back parking lot. Doesn't say any name or anything on it, but I'm close enough to see the dealer sticker and it was from Nashville TN. So I get in my truck and follow it to the front of the store where it parks, then I park and watch to see who gets off. Damned if it ain't the boys from Blackberry Smoke! I got to meet the two guitar players! They said they were playing in nearby Sellersville PA that night. I told 'em "Well, I guess I know where I'm going tonight!" So me and the wifey went to see them and they were just great. Good time Rock'n Roll with bits of old-school, shit-kickin' Country thrown in for good measure. Equal parts Allman Brothers, Black Crowes, Rolling Stones and Kentucky Headhunters with hints of CCR, Skynyrd, Waylon Jennings and George Jones all in the mix. Charlie Starr can friggin' sing! And both he and Paul Jackson are outstanding guitar players. Better harmonies than I gave them credit for here before. Just a fun night out. They played for about 1:45. Pretty much the same songs in the same order as the DirectTV concert I was first introduced to them with, but many more songs were in the mix. Absolutely great band, extremely nice folks. They have a new album coming out by the end of the year and a DVD that they said would be out in time to be a "stocking Stuffer" for Christmas.
