Guitar One magazine has published a list of the "Top 10 Shred Albums of All Time" in its February 2005 issue. According to the magazine's editors, "arpeggio for arpeggio, these 10 albums strike the finest balance between tasteful melody (ahem) and 'no way did he just play that!'"

I say that about almost every Satriani and Vai album, and I have them all. As much as I love the first two Malmsteen albums, I find him rather predictable since then. Still an amazing player, but too predictable for the most part. At least Satriani and Vai are still trying to come up with new sounds as they go.
