Simply put.......
I can't believe that I share a forum with the likes of you?
Now...you're going to bring Elvis into the mix?
Bad enough you slam and hammer The Beatles...
Seriously?...where the fuck were you in 1964
when The Beatles hit American soil pal?...huh?...HUH???
Give your head a shake young fella for you know
not what you speak of. You haven't got a clue
when it comes to music, life, or anything else related
to either of the genres...trust me...you've proved
as much in your statements, posts and responses
since you've been a member here in regards to
any topic posted yet we have collectively tolerated
the drivel that you espouse and go on about
...Good on us huh!!!
Better yet...GOOD ON YOU...but I will tell you this my
boy...when you start making no sense whatsover about
Elvis, or The Beatles, then you, my friend start chipping
away at the foundation of classic rock as I know it...and
that, THAT...my boy...is where I have to draw the line.
Best for you to go back and pick up some of the older
music...start with some of the stuff that influenced
Elvis...then continue on with some of what influenced
The Beatles...and I'm just not talking about one of them.
Read a book! Check out who influenced John Lennon...or
Paul...or George or yes...even Richard Starky.
And for what it's worth, I don't need to hear further fromothers about how "baaaad" John was or how fucked up Paul got to the point where he was busted in Japan for hemp...We all know that...at least I do...We know that and that has nothing to do with their musical legacy for fuck sakes!
Nirvana, Guns and Roses...enuf already....The Beatles have them
beat hands down in terms of a legacy.
Simply put, this outfit had a pretty good run, in terms of music over a very, very short 8 year career...yet made a huge impact
on the music at the time, and the days ahead. Anyone that believes otherwise simply has their head in the sand.
I challenge anyone that has little knowledge of their catalogue, to at least give it a listen. Surely there is one genre or era that would find a place in your heart........Why you ask?......because they ran the gamut in all of them...genres I mean.
Okay, so, the best thing I can suggest is this...you want
Beatle variety...go to The White Album.
I promise...there will be at least ONE song on that album that
you'll "kinda like"...and after a few spins..."really like"!
Blue...you really need to check these guys out.
Open your mind.
Trust me...it'll all come together for you when you do.
Thanks
Kim
I have checked them out and listened to them. Their style of music is very very boring. I just don't "Get" their music. Sure yeah they influenced alot of people but so did the Model T Ford.
Ahh shit...I just can't help myself here on this one...and need
to beat this dead horse just one more time...
Blue, I noticed that you mentioned that you "checked them out".
Okay, so we've established that.
Now, my question is this...just what aspect, genre or era of The Beatles short career did you check out?
The reason I ask is this...
If you go back to the "early days", did you not notice the originality of not only the "beat"....the "sound" the instumental
power of their collective artistry on such early tracks such as
even something soooo trivial as "Mr. Postman"...?
"Roll Over Beethoven"
.... Not to your liking?...okay fair enough, it's a little sappy for some of the most critical of fans.
Have you checked out "Hold Me Tight"?...just as an example?
Granted, they did remakes in the early days, but "check out"
some of the originaal material...I'm not going to give you the
names, because I feel that it's up to you to do so...and then come back and tell me if I'm right or wrong, or otherwise.
C'mon now...you can't tell me that you listened to that stuff!!!
If you did, you would, and could certainly admit, that for a group trying to find their way back in such an early period of the rock scene, didn't have something to say...especially with the
entire make up of a track such as this.......?
Okay...so, you find that stuff boring...good enuf...
Then we go to the hits.......and, granted, most likely boring to YOU, do you not admit that the control that they had over their
instruments, not to mention, the arguably, best harmonies from 2 of the most unique vocalists of all time, singing their combined lyrical skills to turn the world on it's heel back in the early 60's?
with the likes of She Loves You, I Want To Hold Your Hand...etc...
Again, not good enough?...a tad sappy?...yeah well, the band was pretty much setting the world on fire at this point...so we cut them some slack...and chalk it up to popularity at this point.
So Twist and Shout, Please Please Me,...the list goes on.
Bottom line is this...their early catalogue had music, that to this
day, is the raw feed for any band that can take the stage with confidence in a performance of one of the "oldies".
Then...THEN...we move into the era of the what I like to call the
"progressive" era of this group...Penny Lane, Norwegian Wood, Day Tripper, et all. Listen to the entire albums from whence these
tracks came from. It was a quick couple of years for the lads as they went through this period...before they got to their next stop
in their musical legacy...again...most likely "Boring for you".
Sgt. Pepper was a groundbreaking release...and as boring aas some may find it to this day...still contains some of the best reminders of just how a group of this calibre came to be.
Kinda out there...yeah, but once again, changed course...as they
grew in mind spirit and self awarness.
The White Album showed the "mop tops" moving from their earlier persona, to that of a group that could be hardly recognized not only in appearance, but in a musical sense as
well. You tell me that the crooning duo of Lennon and Mac didn't
turn 180 degrees to produce a track like "Helter Skelter" and I'll drop dead and eat my shorts on the way out.
Then, we go to the Let It Be era and the dying days of the band...and tell me that it too is boring. Again, the talent, the
harmonies and the legacy is there.
I've left a lot of gaps here, but wanted to span the short
8 year history of a group that pretty much did it all during that
time, and if any of their illustrious catalogue is boring, then I must be living on a different wavelength than the majority of
lifeforms on this planet that have even the slightest feel, concern,
or appreciation for these guys.
Blue, I understand if you find them "boring"...but I wonder...did
you really "really" check them out?...cuz if you did, I'm thinking that "Death Metal" is about the only music that you favour?...because, short of all out Reggae, Rap, Hip Hop, and Indie music, this group pretty much said it, and did it all.
I ask you...give the group one more chance...check out any of the eras that I mentioned. These guys had something to say...and they SAID it.
Boring is the furthest thing from this group. If need be...go
to the B cuts...go to the lesser known tracks...you just may be surprised...trust me.
Thanks
Kim
