What is it about artists and bands that always end up performing their most played hits when they appear on tv at awards shows for example?
Do you find this corny?
I sure do. Do we really need to see Steven Tyler perform Walk this way for the 1,000 th time? Some of these artists we could predict what they are going to play without even seeing their set list.

It's not corny, it's what is expected. Most TV spots, artists will play their most recent attempt at a hit. If none is available, then they will do an oldie. I don't think it's corny, it just is what it is. (Sorry for the cliche!)

As opposed to playing a song that 90% of the audience doesn't know?
Jesse is right. Unless they are plugging a new single, why would they play a deep cut from some album?
Hey! If Aerosmith went on the Grammy's and played Lord of the Thighs I'd love it! But I would be in the minority I'm sure.

Because most people haven't heard it, but as you know the first time you hear that song you go "wow, that kicks fucking ass!" Now I remember when I came across that song for the first time. I said to myself "How is this not a hit?" If you expose people to great songs, they will fall in love with them. If Lord of the Thighs was played on tv, alot of people would fall in love with it. Thats just how it is. We don't have to hear Walk this way again. Its old and played out. If they played Lord of the Thighs, alot of people would think it was new and refreshing. Hell alot of people possibly would think it was a new song.
