.....um Phil Collins "has no intention" of retiring from music, according to his spokesperson. Collins recently hinted that he is ready to leave music behind for good, with the singer/drummer even going as far as to tell FHM: "I don't think anyone's going to miss me." But now Collins' UK spokesperson has said the former Genesis man has no such plans to stop making music, reports People magazine. "He is not, has no intention of, retiring," the spokesperson said following the publication of that interview. Collins' last album 'Going Back' was released in September 2010. He has suffered a succession of health problems in recent years including tinnitus, dislocated vertebrae and nerve damage. Last year he admitted that he has considered committing suicide. "I'd overdose or do something that didn't hurt," he said, before stating that he sometimes wants to "write this character out of the story".

Lol and this just in... British singer and drummer Phil Collins has confirmed reports he is to retire from the music business. "I am stopping so I can be a full time father to my two young sons on a daily basis," he wrote on his website. His decision, he said, was not down to "dodgy reviews", "bad treatment in the press" or "because I don't feel loved". Collins' announcement was in response to a series of "distorted" articles that had erroneously painted him as "a tormented weirdo", he added. "There's no need for the straitjacket!" joked the 60-year-old, whose hits include In the Air Tonight and Another Day in Paradise. A former member of rock band Genesis, Collins went on to achieve huge success as a solo performer, including hit albums as No Jacket Required and ...But Seriously. The winner of seven Grammy awards was also the recipient of an Academy award for his soundtrack for the Disney animated film Tarzan. Last year he topped the UK album chart with Going Back, a collection of Motown and soul covers. The singer has two sons, Nicholas and Matthew, with his third wife Orianne Cevey, whom he divorced in 2008.

I never "got" Genesis OR Phil Collins. I hope he's a good father though.

I never cared much for Genesis or Phil Collins but I did always like "Turn it on Again", "Misunderstanding", & "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway". I really hated solo Phil Collins.
My wife loves 80's Genesis & Phil Collins so I eventually began tolerating it. I seen them in Toronto around '91 or '92 & they put on a hell of a show which made me get into them more. I grew to really love the mid - late 70's stuff & the early 70's Gabriel stuff.
Best of luck to Collins but I won't really miss him too much

I like some of the early Genesis with Peter Gabriel and alot of the the 70's era stuff with Collins as the leader. Stuff like "Abacab" was great and I even loved the self titled album from the early 80's. "Home By The Sea" and "Momma" are great songs. His early solo stuff was good to before he went complete pop. "Misunderstanding", "In The Air Tonight", etc....were really good and I wish he would have kept doing music like that. It had an edge. He is a talented artist.
