I went with Blackmore, but Page is very close. Some of these guys (Angus Young, Pete Townsend and Keith Richards) are better at coming up with chord progressions than actual riffs.

Iommi is the master of riffage as far as I'm concerned. Soooo many crushing riffs written it would be almost impossible to catalog.

Went with Ritchie, he can pull a riff out with one hand in his pocket and the other tuning his headstock. And he's a master improving during a live show. The rest follow the script during shows. One who should be on the list that would have been a challenge to Ritchie is Gary Moore back when he rocked.

With the question being "Favorite" I went with Keith Richards.
You know a riff is great when you find yourself throughout the day... sticking your lips out, placing your top teeth on the inside of your bottom lip, create a static/distorted kind of "DV DV ..." sound to imitate a riff (or even a basic "Nrow Nrow...sound).
The main Riffs from the guitarists listed I've copied for decades would be (in no order)
Keith Richards (Jumpin Jack Flash, Brown Sugar, Satisfaction, Start Me Up ) Tony Iommi (Iron Man, Sweet Leaf, Into the Void, War Pigs, N.I.B. ) Blackmore (Smoke On the Water,Man of the Silver Mountain, Long Live R & R) Jimmy Page (Heartbreaker, The Ocean) Angus Young (Whole Lotta Rosie, Highway To Hell, Back in Black)

I know some of you are gonna rip me on this, but I chose "Other" as I have Paul Stanley & Ace Frehley on the brain this week. Thinking about riffs to songs like "Deuce", Firehouse", "Cold Gin", "Watchin' You", "Strutter", "Got To Choose", "She", "Love Her All I Can', "Mr. Speed", "Detroit Rock City", "Take Me", "Rocket Ride", "Shock Me", "Tonight You Belong To Me", etc, etc, etc has got me thinking that KISS is once again underlooked. under estimated and under appreciated for their contributions to the history of rock & roll.

Shoot!!! I didn't even see "other" ...Paul & Ace would get my vote too

Maybe not the heaviest rocker in the industry, but one that comes to mind for me is John Fogerty.
Strangely enough, on almost all of the CCR and, subsequent hits by Fogerty, he seems to have had the ability to set the pace, with his guitar playing all through the years and has provided us all with some great riffs.
Man, can this guy deliver in the "hooks" department!
The other great thing about Fogerty was, is that he was able to back it up with arguably some of the best "unique" sounding vocals that I have ever heard.
Thanks Kim
