As much as you and I hate them...give us one Pop Song that you hate to admit that you like...or in this case...one that you feel now compelled to admit to liking....... Awwwwwww c'mon now...we all have one. These are songs that defined a special moment in our lives. Ones that are dear to our hearts... Aside from the heavy metal armor that we all wear when we slip on those tight jeans...hahaha...and comb our hair just so...hahahaha...there is a chink in that armor...and that is what? I'll go first and say that I have a number of them... However!...the first one that comes to mind is Gilbert O'Sullivan's "OooWacka Doo Wacka Day". It's a long story, and one I won't bore ya with, suffice it to say that it was relative to a childhood sweetheart, one that I think about to this day. I lost contact with her in my late teens and still think about where she might be and what she is doing...and whenever I hear that song...(which I hear quite often because I downloaded the bastard)...it takes me back to those innocent days in the early 70's. Hey! I'll betcha this...My friend Bucky is gonna come through with Edison Lighthouse.......I'll just betcha.............. Thanks Kim

I don't have the disdain for pop music as mush as most on here. I mostly listen to rock but often do enjoy pop music of all eras including currently.

It's incredible to think that others were doing the same thing and listening to the same music that you were kind enough to list above. You've sparked a memory with that statement and I have to admit, that I was pretty much doing the same thing back in the summer of 74' Getting out of grade 9 or "ninth grade" if you will, was a celebration and I recall one sunny, warm day, sitting outside of the corner store with a friend, listening to a little radio that we had, opening up these friggn' packs of Wacky Cards...always looking for the elusive "Crust Toothpaste" card that I could never seem to get!!! Plenty of "Helene Cooties" or "Lice a Roni", "Gadzooka Bubblegum", "Jailo", "Chock Full Of Nuts And Bolts Coffee" and a whole wack of others...hahaha. I must say...I sure threw out a shitload of that crappy gum that they included...haha...didn't you???...hahahaha. What were they?...5 or 10 cents a pack at the time? The funny thing was, I never did stick them on anything, and as a kid, preferred to save them for posterity? Sadly, once I got older, these items from my youth eventually found their way to the garbage I suspect?...along with the Mad Magazines, comics, plastic models and old coins that I used to collect. To this day, I wonder if there were some "keepers" in that collection of childhood treasures? In regards to the music that you have kindly taken the time to list, know this, a good majority of those tunes are on my flash player, and I listen to them on a weekly basis...for these are also childhood treasures that I've been partial to, and ones, thankfully that can be easily found once again, and are mine for the keeping as I approach my 2nd childhood....... Thanks Bucky! Kim

That's a smile worthy list. The Gary Wright, Boz Scaggs & Bay City Roller offerings strike a chord here. I'd add: Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street' www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF5dtePX5Jk Oh! Hot-DAMN, the GUITAR SOLO is so worthy! Jean Knight's 'Who Do You Think You Are, Mr. Bigstuff? ' www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxJ2fn3mREg Funk... dripping with FUNK and extra FUNK ON TOP! Helen Reddy's 'Delta Dawn' www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAP5xuP3l0MYOU WILL be singing the chorus. That gospel will get to you, you're powerless! www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtuvXrTz8DYJackson Brown's 'The Load Out w/Stay' ...Remember!?! This was before Bob Segar's 'Turn The Page'. Terrific! www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5va1iaLj2MNeil Diamond's 'Brother Love's Salvation Show' That voice! One TREMENDOUS exhibition of talent! Plus, it's just a cool song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oN86d0CdgHQJohn Denver's 'Take Me Home Country Roads' J.D. was fucking huge in the olden days. Dang. I almost forgot! www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVAfe6sF5rEJohn Denver's SIGNATURE SONG... 'Thank God I'm A Country Boy!' Unashamed to love this one here. If your foot resists tapping you're a tarnished, tainted soul.
