Do you get excited about new music releases these days
compared to the older days?
Maybe it's just me, but I can recall a day when I used to get
excited and found myself anticipating the release of a new
album from many a group back in the day compared to what
I do these days...even if it's from a veteran act.
It seemed like every couple of months, we were blessed with
another hit album.
When Springsteen comes out with a new release, I find myself
somewhat tentative in what to expect. In years past, albums
from the greats were almost a sure thing...these days, it seems
to be hit or miss. In the case of Springsteen however, the man
never fails to deliver, but he's an exception in my opinion, especially when it comes to classic rock.
For example, is everyone getting excited about the forthcoming
Rush album? Are we to be greeted with a worthy result?
Keep in mind, back in the 70's, we had groups and artists like
Zep, Cheap Trick, Genesis, Boston, TOTO, The Police, The Cars, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, KISS, Queen, ELO, Supertramp, Styx, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Steve Miller Band, Dire Straights, Nazareth, AC/DC, Rush, Fleetwood Mac, Judas Priest, The Eagles...the list goes on and on.
Groups like these were pulverizing the airwaves back in the day, and it was almost hard to keep up.
In my opinion, we don't see that anymore and is reason why
I ask the question.
