Do you get excited about new music releases these days compared to the older days?
Maybe it's just me, but I can recall a day when I used to get excited and found myself anticipating the release of a new album from many a group back in the day compared to what I do these days...even if it's from a veteran act. It seemed like every couple of months, we were blessed with another hit album.
When Springsteen comes out with a new release, I find myself somewhat tentative in what to expect. In years past, albums from the greats were almost a sure thing...these days, it seems to be hit or miss. In the case of Springsteen however, the man never fails to deliver, but he's an exception in my opinion, especially when it comes to classic rock.
For example, is everyone getting excited about the forthcoming Rush album? Are we to be greeted with a worthy result?
Keep in mind, back in the 70's, we had groups and artists like Zep, Cheap Trick, Genesis, Boston, TOTO, The Police, The Cars, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, KISS, Queen, ELO, Supertramp, Styx, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Steve Miller Band, Dire Straights, Nazareth, AC/DC, Rush, Fleetwood Mac, Judas Priest, The Eagles...the list goes on and on.
Groups like these were pulverizing the airwaves back in the day, and it was almost hard to keep up. In my opinion, we don't see that anymore and is reason why I ask the question.
Thanks Kim

Back in the 70's when I was in my prime buying records all i lived for was buying records. Music & hockey was my life. I guess as I get older I'm a bit more selective on my bands but if Kim Mitchell, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Stones, Cheap Trick,...etc are coming out with something new I am as excited as always. Back then you also had great magazines in the US like Creem, Circus, Hit Parader, & Rock Scene which all covered various rock genres promoting the hell out of upcoming releases. Nowadays you have Classic Rock & Mojo both from the UK & both over 10 bucks so unless it's an artist I like on the cover...I'm not payng that much for it. They both are great magazines covering the old bands as well as new. They're also tough to find

Yes I'm always looking for new bands and trying to find new music. I also enjoy discovering music that is older that is new to me. This site over the years has helped a lot with that.

It's okay Jesse, yer not getting older...just better...and better yet, you still have guys like me to relate to...marriage will do that to a fella...hahahahahahaha. Trust me, at this point, now that you've realized and come to terms with the so called "aging process", it stops here, and you now continue on with "experience". Yeah, you might look a little sillier on the dance floor, but damned if you won't wow em with prestige, class, expertise and experience after the song is over........ask the younger dudes to do that!... Plus!!! Holy shit on a stick...you can play most anything that the younger crowd has never heard before...Status Quo included!..........heheheheheheeeeeee...!!!!!!!!!........ Yer not old............Yer in yer prime buddy! Thanks Kim
