Who was more popular amongst the youth of the world? Leif Garrett or Kiss in 1979?
Leif Garrett reminds me of Justin Bieber.

Who's Leif Garrett? I think Paul Williams was more popular than either.

Just like 32 years from now people will be asking, "Who's Justin Bieber?"

Just like 32 years from now people will be asking, "Who's Justin Bieber?" I think Justin has a good chance of transitioning into adult pop star like Justin Timberlake or Usher possibly even more successfully. He has musical talent and very good management. He just needs to navigate voice change and stay away from heroin.

I think by the end of the year it may have been close as to who was more popular. KISS had released Dynasty early in the year and the pop/disco tone the album had led a lot of long time KISS fans to go looking elsewhere for their rock. "I Was Made For Loving You" was the 2nd (and last) single to go gold for the band and had reached #11 in the States. So while the single was one of the best selling songs they ever had, it also was the beginning of the end for the original lineup. Only 3 years later (1982), they had arguably hit rock bottom. Ace and Peter were both gone and the makeup was coming off. While being somewhat successful after taking the makeup off, it was never as good as it was in the early days.
