When they were growing up and listening to music?
For example on the way to work this morning they were talking about the possibility of a Poison and Motley Crue tour for 2011. These two dumb fucks were totally making fun of the idea. The guy that was on the radio asked the woman "Do you like Motley Crue and Poison?" The woman then proceeded to say "Maybe that was true back in High School during the 80's. HA HA HA"
I mean what gives? Why are there so many grown adults who laugh at the bands they liked back in the day? I've always liked what I like, and I don't stop liking it cause its not the IN thing anymore. I am 31 years old, and I have been listening to the same shit since I was 8. I don't get it really. Plus like em or hate them, Motley Crue and Poison put on some really good concerts. These people are missing out on a really great live show.
Are these people just trend jumpers or what? Please explain.

It's a time thing. I don't know exactly what they were saying to mock them nor do I know how old the DJ's are but when I hear Motley Crue & Poison will tour together I immediately think of the High hair-sprayed hair, leather & Spandex,make-up on men & women, & of course the 1980's. It's not like that now... that fad is out of style so the average person will look back & laugh(not in a bad way but more in a fun way). I think it would probably be a Kick ASS tour but it does scream out 1985. It's the same when you hear & laugh about disco with platform shoes, polyester pants, & silk shirts or the 1950's with slicked back hair, poodle skirts, black leather jackets & white T shirts. I'm sure 10 years from now people will be laughing at the Emo look & style

Now that they have professional jobs and wear a suit and tie everyday to work, they look down upon it and think its stupid or immature. I for one find that shit kick ass. I would much rather have a rockin chick that uses tons of hairspray and wears her hair high, with tight leather and knee high boots, then some woman that wears a pair of high heels, a skirt, and a button down white blouse. No need to make fun of a good thing.

Well, there's those of us that have terrific self images with unabashed pride. Following trends and being led around by advertisers, promotors and marketers is a character flaw. We're amused with trends and don't give too much thought about what dumb newest thing we're supposed to be doing or buying. If something new is cool, we'll know it and get into it because we like it, not because somebody wants us to like it. This IS the common denominator of being cool. The thought of having to apologize or make excuses for something we like does not occur to us in any way. Not ever, past present or future. We may very well be the last generation that had exposure to real, organic bands that can play live, together, all members at once without computers, weird filters and techno wizardry and sound terrific! Even when taking into account the "generational phenomenon" with regards to music "our" music is of a higher quality by all forms of measure. Quality is quality, period. Old, new it doesn't matter. Sometimes dill-weeds try to call me on the carpet for not liking something "just because it's not from my generation". They're idiots! They think I think like them. But the proof's in the pudding everytime. If it's dismal shit, it's dismal shit. Stink is stink in any decade. Having some balls, sticking to your guns and championing good shit is very natural. Never apologize. EVER!

I laughed at Poison in 1986. I snickered at Poison AND Motley Crue too. But my statement still stands. There's some tunes from those bands I like and I don't give a flying flip if it's "incorrect". I can be at a lakeside, gargantuan mansion that features an NBA practice court, shooting the breeze and some hoops with some extraordinarly successful folks. The conversation will invariably turn to music and cool cars and I'll chomp on the bit to mention TransAMs and Molly Hatchet without batting an eye. Invariably they'll be dudes there that'll go, "Hell Yeah!" No excuses necessary my friends.

I laughed at Poison in 1986. Me too. Actually it was closer to 1988/89, but I laughed at them, thought they sucked, etc. However, a girlfriend I had in the mid-90's was into them so I listened a bit more seriously and you know what? They actually have some really good songs. On par with Led Zeppelin? No, but certainly as good as anything else from their time period. Motley Crue I never laughed at......I always thought Nikki Sixx would find out and come kick my ass.
