I have always wondered why Libertad never sold more than Contraband. The album is better than Contraband musically. It shows the band as more than just a "Hard Rock" band.
For me this album is great. The guys prove they are all around great musicians with this album. Again, why did it sell so poorly compared to their first release?

Errrm..... because like their debut it is absolute crap? Sorry but Velvet Revolver were nothing more than a lukewarm Aerosmith in my opinion.

I like it..."A Lukewarm Aerosmith" ;D I have a really hard time with a "heated up" Aerosmith these days. So I take it I should save my money on this one?... Thanks Kim

Thanks Kim I tought that both albums were great. With Libertad being the strongest of the two. I think the band sounds nothing like Aerosmith.

The first CD was nothing special. But, a lot of people bought it out of curiosity. By the time the 2nd came out, their curiosity was no longer there.

Velvet Revolver are a great band. What I find is that alot of people wanted them to sound more like they came out of the 80's. So many of them wanted them to hire Sebastian Bach to be the lead singer. Seems like they pissed of their fan base hiring Scott Weiland.

They are a very good band, but somehow wound up sounding more like STP than GNR. I always found them quite tolerable whenever I heard them on the radio or had a friend playing their album for me, but there was nothing to make me feel I needed them in my collection.

But they are better than most of the bands that were coming out with albums. So why didn't their album outsell those bands albums? Blows my mind really.

I tought that both albums were great. With Libertad being the strongest of the two. I think the band sounds nothing like Aerosmith. They may not have sounded like Aerosmith in the vocal department but they certainly tried to play the same type of music. After their awful cover of Aerosmith's 'No More No More' Slash stated that Aerosmith were the blueprint for Velvet Revolver. Judging from the bootlegs I have too they could not play live. Still I saw the classic line-up of Guns N' Roses live & they could not play either.
