Randy Bachman doing Thin Lizzy's Boys Are Back In Town. Really terrible ...
I have a tribute 2 CD set to Phil and Lizzy and when I saw Randy Bachman was covering it, I thought it should be great. Total kills it.
Hey Al!...good to hear from you once again!
In my opinion, Randy Bachman has a hard time doing
anything on his own...and in fact pales in comparison
to any of his former band mates.
You know what made him great?...or at least worthy of being
considered good?...First of all, Burton Cummings...then, he hit his stride with brother Tim and Robbie when they formed Brave Belt.
Then, had it not been for the glue that actually made the band sound like they did in the early days with C.F. "Fred" Turner, this outfit would have run out of gas before hitting the accelerator!
Listen to the first release and then ask yourself...who in the hell is Randy Bachman? Granted, he does have is place on it...but 99.9% of the accolades would go to Turner on this one and young brother Robbie on the cans being a close second.
It's funny, but the radio moguls still believe that "Blue Collar"
is the single of the album. What a joke!
They still play the shit out of it today however in Randy's
honour for some ridiculous reason???
Anyone else prefer "Hold Back The Water"....or even "Gimme Your Money Please"...or "Stayed Awake All Night" or "Don't Get Yourself
In Trouble" to this otherwise "jazz" oriented single torn from an otherwise good old fashioned rock album?
Don't get me wrong, I like the song...but is that the best that the
execs could cull from this masterpiece???
It's no wonder they didn't get any recognition?
Now, to prove my point...what was the "real" rocker on the
"Not Fragile" release?
"Roll On Down The Highway".
Who sang it?
Fred Turner...that's who.
No wonder Robbie doesn't talk to his bro...sheesh.
Yeah yeah...I know that Randy and Fred did a gig
together this summer, but...BUT...why does Randy
seem to dismiss the fact that BTO was all about he,
Robbie, Fred, and Blair?
Nuff said... Get over it!!!...all of them...and get
back down to Takin' Care of Business!!!...
Elvis would want it that way after he stole
the moniker!!!
For what it's worth kids...I highly suggest that
you check out and listen to, in it's entirety, BTO's
first release. You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
If you are, email me and tell me of your woes.
This album rocks from start to finish...turn it up!
Thanks
