The 1955 original "Les Diaboliques." It's more of a Thriller...but is viewed as a Classic Horror movie by many.

The Ring is the last great horror film that I watched. There was just something very eerie and unknowing about the whole thing from start to finish...and all done with little blood, gore and spatter.
The story behind it was also credible in that it wasn't just some heavily made up lunatic with an axe, but one telling the story of a misunderstood girl that took out her revenge from beyond the realm of reality in a way that was conducted through modern day techniques... videotapes, phones, tv's.
A nice break from the usual "person dies in horrific fire...comes back all pissed off and hacks and slashes everyone in the film" only to set it up for Part 2.
I'll be honest in saying that this movie actually made me jump during one or two of the scenes, or at the very least sent a chill up the back of my neck...and I've been desensitized over the years from watching Frankenstein as a 5 year old, to The Exorcist as an 11 year old or Texas Chain Saw Masacre as a 15 year old. After that, stuff like Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street and even today's SAW movies, actually put me to sleep.
A few mentionable scenes... - The quick, yet effective shot of the kid in the closet's distorted face. - The quick yet effective shot of the girl's eye in the attic. - The image of her coming out of the tv set onto the floor. Not to mention the very grainy film effect of the actual videotape is rather distrurbing in itself...because of it's subtle use of black and white imagery and slightly speeded up film snippets.
The Ring actually made sense to me as a horror film, and I wish to hell there were more like them. The other thing going for it was that you had a credible character in Naomi Watts. She did very well, considering the genre, and doesn't surprise me as she is one of todays most underrated actresses in the film industry in my humble opinion.
Thanks Kim

I watched 'Let Me In' about a month ago....and I will have to say that is one of my new favorite movies. Chloe Moretz was amazing in that movie and should have been nominated for an Oscar. Great horror movie, but it was also a great love story.

Alien:Convenant was pretty good. Watched that a couple weeks ago. Really good horror movies are hard to come by. Even if the concept and trailers are good they usually end up disappointing me.

The reboot of 'IT' was really good. Forgot that I saw that in the theater when it came out. It even had Anthrax's cover of "Antisocial" in the movie....haha. Also so the last 'Halloween' movie. That one was pretty good. Had the return of Jamie Lee Curtis. My only issue is that it kind of a reboot and only a sequel to the first film. Kind of an alternate universe or alternate sequel if that makes sense. Same guy that played Mike Myers in the first movie reprises the role again.

I finally watched 'Bird Box' a few nights ago. It was good and an interesting concept.....although much of the concept seems to be lifted from M. Night Shyamaian movie 'The Happening'. While I thought most of the movie was good, I thought the end was a little anti-climactic. There really was no explanation for what was going on and not really a resolve....which is why many did not like 'The Happening'.
