Again, in relation to Blue Cheer's excellent post regarding the "Perfect Album", I'm curious as to what some folks here might be worthy of an album that may have fell short towards being the "Perfect Album" or one that could be given a 10/10 rating...if in fact they do exist?
Granted, it may be a tough call considering that on even a persons favourite album, there is most likely one track that is mediocre to some degree compared to the rest.
As an example, I would have to list Nazareth's "Loud N Proud" as an almost perfect album for it's consistency and continuity...except for the last track. That being The Ballad of Hollis Brown. Don't get me wrong, I like the song, I just find that it didn't fit in with the rest of the high energy tracks contained withing...and yeah...I realize that Child In The Sun is not heavy duty by any means, but kind of ends the album off on a slower note.
Anyone care to mention one?
Thanks Kim

I would go with "Pieces of Eight" from Styx. I consider "Grand Illusion" a 10, and POE has a few songs that I like as much or more than anything on GI.
However, I don't "not like" anything on GI.
Blue Collar Man, Queen of Spades, and Renegade are all top 10 Styx songs for me... unfortunately I'm OK (teenage silly), Lords of the Ring (wtf), and Sing for the Day (I appreciate this one a bit more now than when it came out) drop this album from a 10 for me to an 8.

Great to hear from you Equinox! I have to agree with the POE release. Some very strong material here and yet a couple of tracks that you mention do seem to fall short of a "full hand" and no pun intended, "Queen of Spades" is almost an anthem track for Styx, no? DDY at his best here. Thanks Kim

Fool for the City has the two anthems (Slow Ride, title track) and My Babe, which are all great.... yet even though the album Night Shift has no real big gun single, it stays on my play list because top to bottom it's my favorite Foghat album. Overlooked and underappreciated, as they say!

Full Moon-Charlie Daniels Band. I've said numerous times that this is the best SOUNDING album ever. Most of the songs are top notch, however, "South Sea Song" is so bad it drags the whole thing down a notch. It's recorded well, it just sucks.
Heading For Tomorrow-Gamma Ray Keeper Of The Seven Keys (part II)-Helloween Faceless World-UDO These USED to be 10/10 albums in my book, but I've come to realize that not everybody is into "Euro-Metal". In the context of their genre, I think these are perfect albums, but I don't see them winning over anybody who doesn't already like this music, so IMO they fall short because a 10/10 album should appeal to almost anyone.
Molly Hatchet-Molly Hatchet Flirtin' With Disaster-Molly Hatchet Beatin' The Odds-Molly Hatchet No Guts...No Glory-Molly Hatchet Devil's Canyon-Molly Hatchet Silent Reign Of Heroes-Molly Hatchet Warriors Of The Rainbow Bridge-Molly Hatchet Justice-Mollly Hatchet Notice a pattern here? I love Hatchet, they put out great albums, but they do have a tendancy to include at least one or two turds on every album. And when they don't, like on "...Rainbow Bridge", the album tends to be forgettable. Good, but not quite the perfect 10 I keep looking for out of them.
Bad Company-Bad Company Straight Shooter-Bad Company Another band that never quite got there IMO. Very close though.
