Let's see where we were, Who we were, and how the times have changed for us.
Granted, some of us here may have been rather young and perhaps there also may be a few that were, shall we say, not yet with us.
I could go back to 62', but I would have to admit that even I was still a year or 2 away from hearing The Beatles...so I'll start with 72'.
I was 12 at the time and CCR, The Beatles, Jim Croce, Gilbert O'Sullivan, The Doors, Terry Jacks, Chicago and The Sweet was on the top of my charts during this year. I realize that a few of the groups mentioned were pretty much a done deal by then, but the music lingered on. Grade school dances were a hoot back then and I recall trying to dance to a little known tune at the time called "Smoke On The Water"? ;D
Any thoughts?
Thanks Kim

It's obvious then that you're familiar with, and were listening to music at that time. Can you at all recall what may have been playing in the background during the soundtrack of your life back then whilst clawing yer way out of that empty bottle and perhaps into another one?...hahahaha Thanks Kim

1972 I was 10 years old & at the time I was aware of music especially with a 16 year old sister & a 22 year old sister living at home but I was devoting most of my time to playing Ice Hockey, Following the Montreal Canadiens, Cheering Team Canada on as they played the memorable Summit Series against the Russians where Paul Henderson scored the series winning goal, & in 1972 I had really become a Pro Wrestling Freak buying wrestling magazines with the Sheik covered in Blood on the covers. I was watching 3 hours of Pro Wrestling every Saturday 12:00pm from Buffalo, 1:00PM from Hamilton, & 5PM from Vancouver (we had an Antenna which picked up Canadian Channels)(by the way I still watch 10 hours of Wrestling per week!).
Anyway, I used to always play my sisters' 45's which included "Groove Me" by King Floyd, "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter, "Crazy Horses" & "Down by The Lazy River" by the Osmonds(I stayed clear of "Puppy Love", "Hey Girl", & "One Bad Apple"), "Love Grows Where my Rosemary Goes" by Edison Lighthouse, "Candy Man" by Sammy Davis Jr., "My Ding a Ling" by Chuck Berry,"Saturday in the Park" by Chicago, & "Motorcycle Mama" by Sailcat to name a few

I swear, you must have been kidnapped and taken over the border my friend............... Hey, for what it's worth, Paul's shirt went for 1 .06 million this last week in an auction. Some "real estate developer" snagged it. Wasn't a domestic that picked it up either. Doesn't matter... we all know who won the Summit right buddy? By the way, the number one draft pick went to Edmonton... Tyler Hall...another good ole Canuck boy!!! Thanks Kim

I honestly can't tell you what I was listening to in '72. But I knowthat before I discovered KISS in '77, I was listening to the likes of The Captain and Tenille and Olivia Newton-John. Pretty much anything that was being played on AM Radio. Bucky...thanks for taking me out of that hell!!

Of course we both were familiar w/ R & R All Nite but I had no idea who Kiss was or what they were about. Fast Forward to '76 when we were into buying 45's. I remember you(Thanks to your mellow tastes) talking me into buying "Beth" (I remember you explaining the song to me because I had no idea what song it was & I remember me saying"Oh I thought the words were "...but THEN, what Can I Do") Anyway, a couple of months later I played the B side to Beth which was "Detroit Rock City" & with car sounds in the beginning & then the burst of guitars (Narr Na Narr Na Narr Na Narr Na Narr Na Narr Narr) & the crack of the drums(budd da budd da da) I was blown away. I called you immediately & told you to play the flipside of Beth & your response was "Yeah? ?" I then got R & R Over as a gift for x-mas from my sister & there was no turning back. I played that for you & you were as blown away as I was (probably due to the mellow intro to I Want You before it explodes )

Then seeing them do that song on Don Kirschner's Rock Concert just put me over the top.

HA! "Candyman" sung by Sammy Davis Jr...! Great call, Bucky. I was 9 and remember that well for some reason.
Paul McCartney & Wings was singing wierd songs on the radio...
The Jackson 5 had some nice tunes back then... had a cartoon on Saturday mornings too.
...Crosby Stills & Nash were happening, but I was only 9 and didn't appreciate it like it deserved...
My best friend astounded me when he returned from Summer vacation and knew all about Elton John's music. I was like, WTF!?!?
