Yes,I'm a fan!!! I first found out about the his Live album came out around 1978 when a friend had told me that supposedley this guy does a better Jimi Hendrix than Jimi Hendrix. He played me that live version of "Purple Haze" & that was all I needed to hear, I went out & bought the live record & loved it. Around that time he was on the Midnight Special one night & was amazing but the performance that really blew me away was from Cal Jam II. The Cal Jam II record featured 2 Frank Marino tunes(I'm a King Bee & Johnny B. Goode) but they had also broadcasted the whole performance on the King Biscuit Flour Hour one Sunday night(back in the days before I had a component stereo & I used to put a portable cassette recorder next to the speaker of a portable radio). Anyway, at the end of the final song "Purple Haze" Marino went nuts on guitar & played a fast paced version of..."The theme from the Mickey Mouse Club" & I thought it was wild. I really like all his albums & my favorites are 'IV', 'Power of Rock & Roll', 'What's Next', 'Tales of the Unexpected', & of course 'Live'. I got to see him open for Kansas in 1979 & it was wild. He came out onstage,Kicked ass, played 3 songs, & within 25 minutes he was done. It was wild as Marino was either pissed that his set was cut short or he was just so into his performance but he was on fire that night. I seen an amazing show at a club in the early 90's where he headlined & opening the show was Ronnie Montrose

When Frank was part of this board, I tried my darnest to get into his music. First album I got was his live record from around '78. KILLER album! Loved it. I soon bought 4 or 5 of his studio albums and I just couldn't get into them. Sorry Frank and fans. Not bad, just not my thing. For the record Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Rush, Dream Theater, Jeff Beck, and the Rolling Stones aren't really my thing either, so Frank is in good company.

For the record...I'm heavy into the Stones & Jeff Beck but I kind of feel the same way about the others(early Rush I enjoyed but grew to not really care for them at all after Permanent Wave). So for me I would take the Stones & Beck off that list & add the mighty Zeppelin. The strange thing is I'm a big fan of Frank Marino but never really cared too much for Hendrix at all. There are times when I could throw on Jimi & really enjoy him but personally I never seen what others did in him

I for one am a huge fan. I went to my brother's friends house after school one day and he had the live album playing from '78. My jaw just dropped to the floor. Frank who?? I had never heard of him at that point. Juggernaut came out soon after and I was hooked. He plays with such fury and feeling and emotion. All of that stuff about Frank ripping off Hendrix is pure bullshit. Many people were introduced to Frank's music by accident- they went to see a great band play and some guy named Frank Marino happened to be the opening act. People were floored! In many instances it was hard for the headliners to come out on stage afterwards... As far as being "religious", all I can say is that Frank is the "real deal". He has his beliefs, and has a very unique way of conveying it to another, when asked. Nicest, most down-to-earth guy on the planet. I have chatted with him online and in person. I have seen him jam countless times over the last 25+ years. I can guarantee you one thing- if he does start touring again and you are fortunate enough to witness it, you will not be disappointed. You will probably wonder why he never made it big (cause he never sold out). You will be blown away, I promise. Check out his website when you get some time-
