VELVET REVOLVER were honored with a Grammy in the Best Hard Rock Performance category (for "Slither"), where they beat out the likes of INCUBUS ("Megalomaniac"), METALLICA ("Some Kind of Monster"), NICKELBACK ("Feelin' Way Too Damn Good") and SLIPKNOT ("Duality"), Meanwhile, MOTÖRHEAD picked up a Grammy in the Best Metal Performance category for their cover of METALLICA's "Whiplash", shutting out CRADLE OF FILTH ("Nymphetamine"), HATEBREED ("Live For This"), KILLSWITCH ENGAGE ("The End of Heartache") and SLIPKNOT ("Vermilion").

Actually I watched most of it..well, I had it on anyway, and SOME of it wasn't too bad. The Skynyrd segment was probably the best part, although why they had to have all these country singers (who insist on singing EVERYTHING with a twang like they need to prove they're country or something) with them singing is beyond me, but it was good to see Dickie Betts and Elvin Bishop with them..God knows THEY won't be nominated for anything, so it's the only time they'll get on the Grammys. The Allstar version of "Across The Universe" was kind of a bust in my opinion. Having Velvet Revolver performing that as their only performance as a backing band didn't really show off their talents, even if they did have Steven Tyler singing a verse and shaking maracas lol Having Slash standing there strumming chords isn't a showcase for his talents in the least..Oh, and they had the camera showing Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones for all of approximately 2 seconds when they announced their Lifetime Achievement Award, and how John Mayer won song of the year is beyond me, I can never understand 75% of what he's singing..the guy's a great guitarist, in clips I've seen he can play fantastic blues guitar..too bad he doesn't go in that direction on his records instead of pandering to the the big bucks..Oh, and Los Lonely Boys won for best "pop" song I believe, too bad they only had them play half their song before cutting to some band called Maroon 5..and of course Motorhead was NOWHERE to be seen, or heard..big surprise THERE
