Snakes, You have made mention of your enjoyment of the group FIST and their music... In knowing that, I would have to also recommend one other Canuck group and the album that they released... and that would be Bachman Turner Overdrive. Now, I know what yer thinking...not the "Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" aspect of the band, but actually the first release from the band back in 73'. "Gimme Your Money Please" was the intended single and it turns out that "Blue Collar" proved more successful for the boys at the time. Mellow by most standards but it's the rest of the album that stands out. However, along with GYMP, "Hold Back The Water" is certifiably the best track on the album, along with a number of other underrated tracks from what I have to say is one of my greatest debut albums of all time. Yeah...maybe not quite as heavy as FIST...but nonetheless, a fine release from a group that just wanted to make some noise. The gravel based, gin and whiskey fueled vocals of Fred Turner is something to behold. Randy Bachmans simple, yet effective axe work is second to none here for a straight ahead 4/4 beat that does not fail to deliver! Brother Randy on the skins does just fine along with the other brother Tim who was with the group for but one album before being replaced by Blair Thornton. Simple but excellent Canuck rock at its finest! Thought I'd pass that along to you Snakes! Thanks Kim
