According to MelodicRock.com, WINGER are set to get together again for a series of live shows in the U.S. this summer. The plan is to film a live DVD at some shows, with news set to made official next month.
It will be the original Winger line-up of Kip Winger, Reb Beach, Rod Morgenstein and Paul Taylor. Rod has mentioned the possibility of this on his website and Reb also has said he will be writing with Kip Winger for a couple of weeks this month. A new studio album is not in current plans, but never say never.
Meanwhile, on his website, Reb Beach talks about his new album due out mid-year. He says, "The record with Doug Pinnick, Timothy Drury and Frankie Banali is coming along nicely and I think fans of eighties music will really enjoy it. I am trying to keep it heavy, but not as dark as Masquerade. As always, I am trying for the big pay off choruses, but what makes it cool, and not syrupy, are Doug's manly vocals and cool lyrics. It should be out by maybe June or July."

Winger has just been added to my collection. A 1988 release, same titled. It's all solid. I'm enjoying the heck out of it. There's no pox detected as of yet...

I saw them a few years back or maybe it was just Kip Winger with a band but he played all Winger songs and it wasn't bad at all.

Taken collectively Winger contained some of the best musicians of all of the so called "hair bands" of the '80's, and it certainly wasn't fair when "Beavis & Butthead" made them into a joke, thereby ending their career, I mean there were SO many other bands that would've been more fitting. Thanks MTV!Not one of my all time favorite bands, but they were very good at what they did, and certainly didn't deserve that. Actually saw Kip Winger quite by accident several years back when cruising into Borders to pick up some new tunes, and lo and behold there he was playing an acoustic set, not bad at all. Kip lives about 60 miles away from me by the way, although we don't travel in the same circles

First...Winger, as a group, were certainly all talented musicians. I never was a huge fan, but I saw them play live twice and they were quite good both times. After reading Mr. Winger's interview here on R & R U, I've come to think that maybe the lack of a sense of humor about the whole Beavis and Butthead thing might have been their downfall more than anything. Just a theory...
Second...Reb Beach is a freakin' monster on the guitar. I had no idea that he was working with Doug Pinnick of King's X on a new release. King's X is a killer band. That should be VERY cool. Look forward to that.
Third...I found it pretty humorous that Beach says "Doug's manly vocals" when it's pretty common knowledge that Pinnick is gay.
"Manly vocals"...LMFAO! ;D

Just a theory... I can certainly understand after reading Kip's interview that one could come to that conclusion..whether he's an a** or not, that's hard to say though. Like you said, I too was never really a fan of Winger, but I DO recall reading an interview with Reb Beach several years ago, where they asked him about the whole "Beavis & Butthead" situation, and if I recall correctly they were in the middle of a sold out tour, THEN they started showing Stewart wearing a "Winger" t shirt and BLAM, all of a sudden, the arenas were only half full, then dwindled ever downward. Which is totally asinine, in my opinion, to form your opinion on whether you're going to support a band you supposedly like because of an ANIMATED CARTOON CHARACTER! lol SUDDENLY, it's "uncool" to like a band you dig because some dweeb on a show likes them and/or ANIMATED characters on the same show are making fun of them? I suppose after something like that it'd be difficult to have a sense of humor over your livelihood having been taken away due to that. Of course, after this many years, maybe he should just get over it lol

I never saw nor heard about the dang Butthead thingy until it was brought up here. Thank goodness I stopped watching MTV around 1985.

I REMEMBER ONE EPISODE WHERE THEY WERE WATCHING A WINGER VIDEO. AND BUTTHEAD SAID SOMETHING ABOUT IF YOU LIKE WINGER IT'S LIKE HANGING OFF OF WOOSE CLIFF. DON'T QUOTE ME ON THAT BUT IT WAS PRETTY MUCH SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

DON'T QUOTE ME ON THAT BUT IT WAS PRETTY MUCH SOMETHING LIKE THAT. Exactly, they didn't actually slam on Winger doing the animated part of the episodes, just when they were watching videos. It wasn't that so much it was the fact that they picked Winger to be on Stewart's shirt that caused them to be "uncool". Luck of the draw I guess, could've been any of hundreds of bands of the day, Mike Judge must've had some sort of particular hatred for that band

No, but he was the guitarist for Alice Cooper when I saw him. Beach was killer on the geetar! Kip Winger was also in Alice's band during the Constrictor tour. I believe he played on the Constrictor album as well. That was the album / tour with Steroid man Kane Roberts on guitar.
