I love Amazon. Pretty decent prices and I don't even have to leave the house and the music gets delivered to my door with free shipping if I order $38.00 or more worth of merchandise. Also, they can usually get it to me within a few days of placing my order for "in-stock" goods. I've seen orders placed on a Sunday come in as early as the following Tuesday...not bad! The last 2 times that I went to a "CD Store", other than Wal-Mart, they didn't have what I was looking for and claimed that although it could be ordered, it would take up to a minimum of 8 weeks before it came in???... and of course at the regular price of $26.99 CAN before 13% taxes incl. Thanks, but no thanks. Plus, I love the "air bags" that Amazon sends along with their packaging to protect your order. Comes in quite handy down the road if you need to ship stuff out yourself...hahaha. Aside from Wal-Mart and the new releases that may pique my interest from time to time, I can honestly say that I'll never again step foot inside one of these exclusive "funky musical boutiques". Thanks Kim

Compared to last year even Amazon their cd's have jumped a ton.Artists that don't have U.S. contracts and are indies or HMV or Euro only releases went from around $25 to upwards of $40. About 2 months ago I saw an article about the U.S. major labels getting charged with collusion for raising the prices of cd's, I guess they talked Europe and the rest of the world into it as well. Sucks for us!!!

I hate that CDs cost so freakin' much these days Havent CDs been the same price (9.99-14.99) for the last 15-20 years? Unless you are foolish enough to go to the CD store at the mall (Like FYE) and spend 17.99 for a CD. And I love how they will have a price at F.Y.E. that says 18.99, have that crossed out, and have a new "sale price" of 15.99. 15.99 is STILL too much for a CD. Because the 18.99 is crossed off, some dummies think they are spending 3.00 LESS than they should. 20 years ago, you could NEVER find a new released CD on sale for a low as 9.99. Best Buy has new releases for 9.99 all the time. If anything, CDs are cheaper these days.

Think about how much everything else has gone up in price over the last 20-25 years compared to the price of CDs which has pretty much stayed the same or dropped.

I am at a loss for words when stating this, but I can tell you this...... If I go into a "CD Store" and ask to purchase a cd by ohhhhhh let's say "Bruce Springsteen", if they don't have it in stock, which they most likely don't...and the little 15 year old "chippy" behind the counter says to me..."gee Sir, we'll have to order it for you...snap, snap giggle, burp, hick *go fuck yerself old man as I wiggle my tongue around my piercing*,...then there isn't much I can do now is there? First off. They are employing idiots. Sad to say, it's the norm and I'm fine with that. However, don't fuck with me as a patron, not only of the arts, music but as a gawdammed succinct consumer to any degree!!!!!!....regardless of what it is that I purchase!!!!!!!!! These are our children that we allow to go forth and hammer down, their wit, and otherwise lack of knowledge when it comes to music, livelihoods and whatever...all the while...expecting to make a sale!!!!!! ?? Years ago, when I was a "reeeeeal idiot", I could at least walk into a "music store" ...and have someone give me the goods...or at least pass along some usefull information in regards to the music that I was searching out. I looked up to these folks that were at least, in my opinion, "gods" and had what?...at least 7 or 8 years of musical experience behind them?...and as many years in age above me? *Whew...thank be to "hayzoos" that I deleted that last part of my statement! Pete would have been all over me like "Chizweez on a Cracker" Thanks Kim

Around these parts MA. / CT. in the good old days of DJ played music (not the preprogrammed crap) the best DJ around used to use a term for the people that worked in Music shops as musicollogists because back then they could impart knowledge of any artist u were checking out. But since Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and all the one stop stores Like Kim opined were just dealing with the worker of the day working the music section, whose just counting the minutes til they go home and play video games.

I found that sometimes the people in the music department at Barnes & Noble are pretty knowledgeable. They usually have people who work exclusively in the music department. The ones I've talked with at least know about the month's releases and a few actually know what they're talking about.
But I rarely buy cds anymore. I love Amazon. Can't stand ITunes.

;D Talking about knowledgeable kids, here's my sad story: I was hanging out a friend's record store some years ago and kid came in asking for a series of Queen records because he wanted to get to know the band's music. The kid added that he had heard some tunes on the radio and he wante to know more about Queen. So my friend diligently gets Killer Queen from the shelf and put the needle in the groove so to say:). Well to our total awe, the kid told my friend off because in the kid's opinion, that album was NOT the Queen, but a silly screaming rock band he didn't like at all!!!! . So my friend diligently asked the unknowledgeable kid what tune he had heard over the radio and the reply was Radio GaGa and the kid added that was Queen's music and not rock!!!!! I have no further comments to make, only severe swear words......but YOU be the judge ! ;D
