Clearly not dying before he got old THE WHO frontman ROGER DALTREY has lived long enough to be called to BUCKINGHAM PALACE on February 9th to collect a CBE.
The singer is the patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust and has raised more than £2 million for charity, reports BBC News.
Daltrey, who along with Pete Townshend, is a surviving member of The Who, joins the likes of Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton and Elton John as rock stars who have been up to London to visit the Queen and bagged a gong.
Though his award is a little short of the knighthood presented previously to his contemporaries such as Paul McCartney and Elton John, the 60 year-old said he was "so pleased" to get his honor. It is really great to be honored by my country," he said.
He is the only rock star on the list this year, which has concentrated on Britain’s Olympian sports stars.
Daltrey is currently working on a new album ’Who2’, the band’s first studio recording in 23 years.
