United In Rock: Foreigner, Styx And Kansas

The tour of the summer unites three iconic bands, Styx, Foreigner and special guests Kansas, responsible for countless Top Ten hits and well over 100 million album sales.

United In Rock, scheduled to kick off in May, brings together three bands that helped shape rock and roll for a generation of music fans by dominating the charts and airwaves for decades. Tickets go on sale March 6th for shows in Boston and Chicago with additional tour dates and ticket on sale information to be announced shortly at LiveNation.com. With tickets beginning at $10* in select markets, this is sure to be the summer's biggest night of hits in 2010, uniting fans from all over the country to a rock bash for less cash.

"I am very excited to be performing this summer with both Foreigner and Kansas on our United In Rock Tour. These three bands represent the more rocking side of the classic rock genre. With the countless great rock songs each band will be performing this is going to be a guitars-a-blazin' good time had by all. The three rock legends will team up for an evening full of some of the most memorable rock songs ever recorded, mining 30 years of hits on a tour that will take them to Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, Atlanta, Virginia Beach, DC, New York, Boston, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Detroit and more cities to be announced.

Saw Styx with kansas 5 years ago. Both bands played well, Kansas' set was pretty short (65 minutes), but that probably works ok in a 3 band set-up.

Last time I saw styx was 3 years ago with REO and Journey...

Haven't seen foreigner in a long while while (1979). I think I'll have to catch this show.

They're at Meadowbrook Pavillion in Guilford NH on the 13th of June and in Boston on the 20th. I'll try to make one of them. I get newsletters from Meadowbrook and can get tickets early (This Thursday, a two day jump on normal sales which open Saturday), so i'll probably go this route.

It'd be cool if the lineups to these bands were the original "hit-making" lineups. If they had all the original singers, at least.
I aint down with sitting on the grass 100 yards away to hear some other dude sing "Cold as Ice."

Kansas still has their original singer. Styx has 2 of their original 3 singers. As for Foreigner, you'd really rather hear this:

Gramm ain't bad, I have heard him sing much worse, but here he is at least a 1/2 step below the Foreigner version and he still has trouble hitting and sustaining certain notes.
If I'm shelling out money to see Foreigner, I'd prefer to spend it on the Kelly Hansen version.

Yea...I know Styx has two of their three origial singers...but hearing someone else sing the Dennis DeYoung songs would be a buzz-kill for me.
And, I dont care how good Kelly Hansen is (maybe I am not a big enough fan of Foreigner), but I rather not go at all then see the band with him singing.
Some bands NEED the original lead singer for me to want to see...some dont. It probably depends on how much I like the band. Or, how much I like the other members of the band.
I saw Lou Gramm a few years ago...some songs were sung better than others. It wasnt too, too great, but ok enough, I guess.

I wasnt sure if Steve Walsh was still in Kansas, of not.

What's the good word out there these days in terms of what the
STYX camp is doing? Is Larry still wowing the crowds or is the
consensus chomping at the bit for a Denis De Young return to
"illusions of granduer"?... ;D

Honestly, I'm okay with the fact that they snagged on to Gowan, but
I'm a purist by nature and would much rather see DDY back in the fold
for a tour anyday.

As far as Gramm goes.........is Lou still not suffering ill affects from his
his ongoing ailments...which pretty much renders his vocal talents somewhat limited to the point where it's not quite up to par, to put it kindly?
