from the band's official website:
It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you - whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.
While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion’s extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.
We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years!
We uploaded the very first snippets from our new album for you.
And now… let’s get the party started and get ready for a “Sting in the Tail”!
See you on the world tour,
Yours
Scorpions

The Scorpion machine died out when they recorded Wind of Change, their WORST track ever ......sorry to hear they're splitting up though and I hope their new album will be better than that crap called WOC:)

I kind of agree with the statement above... to me, the Scorpions died out a while ago... they haven't had an album that could hold my ear since Love At First Sting... I thought they had completely sold out after that album, although that may have been due to the rabid success of the album as well... but it was never duplicated.
I'll live fine knowing the great tunes they wrote from the early years through to the Sting album...

Love at First Sting was their last solid album. But they had a few songs along the way that were cool.
To name 2: I liked their Hurricane 2000. They use that at sporting events now. I also like thier last single from a couple years ago, Humanity.

It's called "Promotion". If everybody goes thinking it's the last tour, then it will gross a lot more $, just ask THE WHO. Next year the statement will be..."We have decided to stick around after the great turnout and fan support" or... maybe not. If you think about it, most of our classic bands are now in their 60"s, if they take a break from the music business, it might be for life (being only a few years left in most lives). ;D

That's 'coz most bands never made a pact with the Devil......unlike the "boys" in the Rolling Stones , heheheheh

They should call it quits. Their last album 'Humanity Hour 1" was complete slab of shit. As stated about their last great album was 'Love At First Sting'....although I did like some songs off of 'Savage Amusement' and 'Crazy World'. Those albums had their moments.
I would still love to see them live again before they retire. My first concert was going to see the Scorpions on the 'World Wide Live' tour, headlining the Oakland Day On The Green Festival in the summer of '85.

Besides "Winds of Change" I thought "Crazy World" was a great album. I also really liked "Unbreakable" in 2004.
