Firebird is a British blues-rock power trio founded by vocalist/guitarist Bill Steer in 1999. Bill Steer formed Firebird after the demise of Carcass. Bill Steer Bill Steer's playing is the difference between night and day from his work in Carcass. With Firebird you have a cool mixture of gritty blues, stoner rock and southern rock. The music style, reminiscent of seventies rock bands such as Cream, is a radical departure from Steer's previous work with grindcore pioneers Napalm Death and death metal band Carcass. Where Carcass was all about twisted grindcore riffs and blastbeats. Firebird's music is more about creating a solid melody between guitar, bass and drums. If you like soulful vocals and old school blues solos Firebird is the shit. This isn't your standard blues rock. Firebird's sound is blues rock with down tuned stoner rock thump.

I have their first three albums. Great band. I am not really that familiar with Steer's other works but Firebird is an excellent band. Kind of like Cream meets Badlands. The first two and the last two albums feature Ludwig Witt of Spiritual Beggars on drums. First two albums also have Cathedral bass player Leo Smee.
