ALICE COOPER filmed two public service announcements Friday (Feb. 4) promoting online vehicle registration and urging drivers not to run red lights, according to The Arizona Republic. Scottsdale-based Just Press Play filmed the spots for the Motor Vehicle Division of the Arizona Department of Transportation.
In the first commercial, Cooper sits in a Corvette owned by Bud and Stephanie Bourassa of Scottsdale. He talks about how Arizona leads the nation in red-light violations.
After finishing the spot, Cooper said two of his three children are driving and he has told them to look both ways even if they have the green light.
"What does it take to look left, right and left, and then go? Don't ever assume that it's OK just to go through a green light at an intersection," he said.
In the second ad, about online vehicle registration, Cooper sits in a red Humdinger, a golf cart-size version of a Hummer.
Both spots will air this spring on local commercial and cable television stations. The red-light spot also will be shown to drivers taking traffic survival school, said Cydney DeModica, a Motor Vehicle Division spokeswoman.
Cooper said he was driving carefully this weekend to Los Angeles, where he and his band will record his 29th album, titled "Dirty Diamond".
"Little gems. Little diamonds in the rough," he said of the songs. The album is due out in May, just before Cooper embarks on a world tour.
