Who are your favorite southern rock bands? I like Alabama,Allman Brothers,Blackfoot,Little Feat, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. But Molly Hatchet is my favorite. They could be very metallic at times. I've loved Flirtin' with Disaster since I can remember.

Blackfoot 38 Special Skynyrd
My top 3, no particular order, although Blackfoot would be my specific choice as they were the heaviest of them all.

Allman Brothers Lynyrd Skynyrd The Outlaws
Those are my three favs.
I also like a lot of Alabama...but they are way closer to "country" than "southern rock." Live, they sound a bit more southern rock tho. If you check out their 1988 live album...it pretty much rocks.
.38 Special, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, Little Feat, Charlie Daniels all have their share of good tunes.

Molly Hatchet with those great vocals of Danny Joe Brown RIP who gave their songs an inimatable sound and the unmistakable sound of Dave Llubek.

Molly Hatchet, Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, 38 Special, ZZ Top, Blackfoot, The Allmans, hell, I can't off-hand think of a Southern Rock band I DON'T like, though most Atlanta Rhythm Section music bores me . I wouldn't consider Alabama Southern Rock, but I guess if ARS counts, early Alabama isn't all that much different.
Some great ones that haven't already been mentioned:
Kentucky Headhunters-Early albums were more Country, but the last few have been all-out SR.
The Regulators-Ok, not really Southern Rock per se as they are from California, but they sound an awful lot like a ZZ Top/ Outlaws hybrid.

I don't consider the Allman Brothers southern rock, but if you want to include them, then they are definitely among my favorites, along with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Black Oak Arkansas.

I'm a purist, so I don't really include the Allmans as "Southern Rock" per se. I don't exactly consider most 38 Special or Blackfoot Southern Rock either, but most folks do, so who am I to argue.

Screaming Cheetah Wheelies Are they southern rock in "your book?" I never thought of them in that way.

Screaming Cheetah Wheelies Are they southern rock in "your book?" I never thought of them in that way. More or less. They fit into the genre better than Little Feat. More of a geographical thing I guess.
