Kiss and Ozzy come to mind... Mark That is true about both of them. The whole Sabbath camp imo have become that way. Pink Floyd has been that way for a long time.

Pink Floyd has been that way for a long time.I would completely disagree with Pink Floyd. They changed quite a bit. With Gilmour leading they went in a different direction but it wasn't a parody of anything. A few people didn't like the waterless Floyd but I wouldn't call it a parody. I would say Van Halen and David Lee Roth. I saw DLR solo about 3 years ago and it could've been an SNL skit. Now with DLR and Wolfgang instead of Athnoly I think they've reached the parody level. If they made some kick ass new music they could change my mind though.

Pink Floyd has been that way for a long time.Sabbath with Ozzy maybe because Ozzy is a trainwreck. Sabbath with Dio is still badass. Dio is still amazing live as are Geezer and Iommi. Kiss is a total parody. I am sick of seeing Tommy Thayer in full page amplifier ads in Ace's coustume. Dude...you are not Ace Frehely. Gene Simmons is just a parody of himself....

Parody... "a humorous or satirical imitation of a serious piece of literature or music". Sorry, had to check the dictionary on this one in case the definition had changed? Pink Floyd?...I'm not getting the connection here? Van Halen?...some bad decisions along the way and maybe pissed off a few...no WAIT!...maybe a lot of fans and even former band members, but "parody"? Ozzy...just downright sad, no parody here at all... In both cases, these 2 examples seriously still believe in "themselves" and have attempted to convince the rest of us, regardless of whether or not it's accepted, as genuine. Weird Al comes to mind though in that he's made a fine career in parodying the best of the best... ;D Now, if you mean that it's a "joke" that some of them seem to have become........well, it's subjective and depends on which band or artist you love and don't mind seeing take the stage once again, regardless of the toll that time has taken, and the hard and fast living of their past that has reduced them to such a degree, causing them to look and sound suspect, compared to the heyday that they once witnessed. Like I said in a previous post, I wonder if some of the classic groups on tour today actually look out into the audience...scope out those in the front row...and ask themselves the same thing... "How come you can't dance and move to the music like you did 25 years ago "ya fat bastards" My stock answer to the group however would be..."because I'm old, and can now afford front row seats...so shut the f*ck up and play the gawdamned music the way I remember it!!! ;D In all fairness...the fans are a "parody of themselves". Just a thought? Thanks Kim

My best friend was a diehard VH fan for most of his life. He gave up on them. DLR isn't even a funny joke any more.

Pink Floyd has never toured without supporting new material. The last tour was "Pulse" in support of "The Division Bell" in 1994.
