I've mentioned it before and what the hell, I'll say it again... ;D
I don't really scrutinize or pay much attention to the ticket price.
If I want to see an artist perform, I'll pay whatever I damn well
can and need to pay, all hinging on just how bad I want to
see them.
Case in point, I paid $150.00 CAN per ticket for my wife and I
to see Fleetwood Mac. Did I care about the price? NO!
I got to see one of my favourite groups perform, and who knows...?
It may have well been the last opportunity to do so. The nice thing was in witnessing my wife enjoy the show to such an extent that she developed a new found respect for this veteran troupe and to this day enjoys listening to the music more so than she ever did...worth the price of admission right there!
Had I "nickel and dime'd" myself to death, and held out for setting
the limit to, ohhh, let's say $120.00, there exists the chance at that point in which I would never have had the pleasure of seeing such a great show.
The Police, last show that I attended in Nov. of 2007, cost me $125.00 per ticket for the 4 of us. Glad I went, even happier to be able to take my wife and her sons to the gig as well. Was it a costly weekend?...of course! Was it a fun weekend?...You Betcha! Would I do it again?...You bet yer sweet bippy I would!
The recent Tina Turner tickets cost me a whopping $57.00 CAN each for 4 tickets. My wife and her friends had the time of their lives. Just can't go wrong with that.
Then there's the infamous, (in my mind anyway... ;D), Status Quo concert which I paid a paltry sum of $15.00 to witness. All of the regs here on the board have had enough of me going on about this one, but just for the newbies that may be reading this, what can I say? I got the deal of a lifetime. Seeing the show that I did, what would I pay to witness the same thing again?...I doubt that anyone really wants to know, and for what it's worth, I myself would have a hard time putting a price tag on it...priceless as far as I'm concerned!
Better put...if Quo ever hits Canuck soil again...I'm there!...I don't care what the tickets are going for.
Bottom line in regards to the going rate for concerts is that yes, for the most part, it's getting more outrageous with each and every tour that the artists gear up for. It all boils down to what the fan is willing to pay and I suspect that it also depends on how much of a fan a person is regards to any given active group or artist out there that hits the road?
I fully understand that there are other things in life that take priority over things such as this, but if you've got the extra and can handle the expense, once again, I say GO FOR IT!...saving that extra $150 or $200 bucks won't make a difference if your favourite groups suddenly decides to call it quits or ceases to exist.
Of course there is the ultimate slap in the face, the fact that that $200 that you saved won't do you any good either when it comes time to cash in yer chips cuz you won't be taking it with you and whatever is left over after it's all said and done, will simply be blown on Popsicles, cheap drugs, a new couch or your surviving spouses new sweetie...and there won't be a damn thing you can do about it! ;D
Enjoy the shows, capitalize on the opportunity's as they come your way, live life, enjoy, just do it, you get one kick at the can and a whole whack of other one liners...
Trust me, the money that you think you're saving now will not get you into the Guinnes Book of World Records for richest dead person...and even if it did...what was it all for?
Thanks
