OREM, Utah (Jan. 31) - An man who called police to report the theft of a quarter-pound of marijuana was arrested when police recovered the bag of pot and then invited him to come to the Public Safety Building to identify it.
Kory C. Tippetts, 18, identified the pot as his and then was arrested and booked into the Utah County jail for investigation of possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone with intent to distribute, police said Tuesday.
Tippetts had called police on Monday evening after he returned home and found that someone had broken a window, got cut on the glass, and crawled into the house. Tippetts told police the only thing missing was the quarter-pound of marijuana he was selling.
Tippetts also told officers that earlier in the day a man had called him about buying some marijuana, but he was on his way to work and told the caller no.
Tippetts gave police the man's name.
Officers found Richard W. Hight, 23, at his mother's home in Provo. He had a cut on his arm and blood-soaked pants. Police also recovered six ounces of marijuana at the home.
Hight was arrested for investigation of burglary, theft and possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone with intent to distribute and booked into the Utah County jail.

I had a roommate last year with a medical marijuana license. When his crop was ripped-off, he made a claim on his homeowners insurance policy. They reluctantly paid the claim. It was unprecedented for that insurance firm...

I haven't used it since highschool, but I believe its safer than alcohol. it probably should be legal, but if that ever happens, and you can go to 7-11 and by a gram for $20, there's gonna be someone in the parking lot selling it for $15. it should have been legalized in the mid sixties at the latest, before it became SO widespread. drug growers/suppliers/dealers/kingpins aren't gonna give up their livelihood that easily.

More like, Squibb, Roehr, Bayer, and all the other drug manufacturers not giving up their hemp replacement products.
Pot would do a better job of at least half the synthesized medicines for pennies on the dollar. That's an economic danger, plain and simple. They will prevent legalization...

Funny story. Reminds me of this guy I used to go to high school with.
He got ripped off a nickel bag (quarter ounce) back in the late 70's, in a parking lot of a popular high school hang out. Some kids mugged him for it, LOL, LOL, LOL! He called the police & reported them! It was in the local paper,LOL, LOL, LOL! Tim was never the sharpest tool in the shed!
I think I just shed a tear!
BTW, pot should be legal.

In searching through the memory banks of my mind, I couldn't help but notice Jims mention of a "nickel bag". Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall those long ago days where a nickel bag would cost a person "5 bucks"...is that correct? And of course a "dime bag" was 10 bucks...and an ounce went for 20 or 25 depending on the quality? If memory serves me, a "nickel bag" would yield 3 to 5 spliffs depending on how they were rolled. An ounce could get you close to 30 or more even, if you were frugal in your technique...right? These days, what the hell does an "ounce" sell for? In fact, what does "one doobie" go for these days? Just curious? You can tell I'm old and haven't been to the "market" since the 70's hahahahahahahahhahahahahaha. Oh yeah, and "Beans"...what's the going rate on these babys' these days? I recall in 1982, I had a friend that would supply us with bottles of 100 for $30.00. "Black Beauties"...then scratch the back of yer head...hahahahahahaha. Scary though being 24 years old and 128 pounds...hahahahaha. Been "bean free" since 1985 and sitting at 178 pounds...(anyone have any beans) hahahahahahahahaha. Thanks Kim
