I predict that because Neil Diamond has a new album out & everyone is acting like it's the second coming of Christ. That you will soon start hearing & reading interviews with bands that will say that Mr Diamond is the bomb. Just like they did with F*&^ing Johnny Cash & Tony Bennett. That makes me want to puke Thats my rant of the day!

This will be Neil Diamond's second album with Rick Rubin. His first was a few years ago with the CD called 12 songs. I thought the disc was great. This one seems to be more stripped down. After hearing samples, I may or may not check it out.
But...I doubt that other bands are gonna start saying how Diamond is great, and all. Nothing like that happened when 12 Songs came out, so I don't see any reason why it will happen now.

Apparently, Neil Diamond has a huge under-the-radar type of following. I forget their name now, but there is a Neil Diamond tribute band that plays in the NYC area, and I’ve met three different people who have raved about the show.
Personally, I’m not a big fan, but my wife likes him. While I would never play one of his CDs myself, when she puts one on, I have to admit – there’s some pretty cool songs on there.

My thing is that everyone "Bandwagons" with guys like this. And the next thing you know it's a "Cool" thing to say in an interview how much you admire these guys. I just see Mr Diamond being the next " Cliche"

I got the new CD...and i think its pretty good. The only thing is that the songs are ODDLY long. A lot of the songs are over 5, 6 or even 7 minutes long. There’s no solos or orchestration breaks to make them that long…it’s just Neil singing.

You couldn't help but sing along.....sort of like ABBA. Am I going to go out and buy his back catalog? No.....
