I was able to get the new Whitesnake yesterday because the little CD shop downtown in Casper called me & said I could pick it up early. I took it work last night and gave it several listens. It kicks major ass! I would like to call it a cross between Ready & Willing/Come & Get It and the 1987 album. Why I say that is Doug Aldrich & Reb Beech seem to cross between the Moody/Marsden style of playing and the John Sykes era. Doug Aldrich does as a co song writer with David Coverdale as he did with Ronnie James Dio on the Killing The Dragon album. He elevates his writing. This album was well worth the wait & I'm sure it will have trouble getting out of my cd player. Highly recommended for all those that love great bluesy 70's style guitar playing.

Had it for a couple of weeks.......it doesn't really excite me too much. It's not a bad album, per se, but it's almost a re-hashed 1897 and it doesn't really pack the same punch these days. Just my humble one.

Just my humble one. Really? I think it sounds nothing like 1987. I think it has more of a 1977 vibe to it. I absolutely Love it!

1977? You're kidding, right?
It is 'son of 1987'......as I said, an okay album but not the Whitesnake that I love. Those days ended when David went for the money.

I can't hear anything that sounds even a little like the band of 1977.
Whitesnake then were a harder edged R 'n B band, Whitesnake now are a well oiled arena metal machine.
Chalk and cheese.

No surprise for anyone that knows me, but I dig the Ready & Willing/Come and Get It era, and hate their arena metal era.

No surprise for anyone that knows me, but I dig the Ready & Willing/Come and Get It era, and hate their arena metal era. A man after my own heart. Ready An' Willing was the album that they were touring when I first saw them in Germany [Aachen, 1980].....great gig and an amazing band back then. The new band [post 1987] is a good band, of course, but they aren't the band that I knew and loved.[/size]

I agree with those who thought the Ready & Willing era was great, to me it had a great bluesy feel that they sorely lack now.

I just got it from iTunes yesterday, and so far I think it's great I'm amazed that Coverdale's voice sounds as good as it does so many years later.

I wonder how its selling? I dunno...I didn't see anything on Billboard about it, but it looks like it's doing pretty good in sales on Amazon. It's listed at #11 in best sellers: www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/music/ref=pd_dp_ts_m_1It shows up at #85 in top albums on iTunes though.
