Next Friday they're in my town and i'm gonna go rock my ass off!! Next Friday! SHINEDOWN Silvertide, Future Leaders of the World Friday, November 26, 2004 Tickets on sale NOW Chunky guitar riffs and thundering power chords have established Shinedown as a stellar hard rock band. Their influences range from the classic sounds of Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin to the soulful stirrings of Otis Redding to the likes of Staind and Tool. Last year's debut album Leave A Whisper featured a veritable feast for the senses, a musical brew that blends bold, strident guitar power, blues-driven vocal fury, and cutting-edge metallic mayhem into a swirling cauldron of bubbling rock reactants. This is heavy music that stands head and shoulders above today's field of cookie-cutter rock practitioners. It isn't unheard of for a post-baby boomer rock band to have some baby boomer influences, either direct or indirect. For example, a post-grunge outfit might claim Creed, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Live as influences but also have traces of Led Zeppelin or the Beatles in its sound. But the post-baby boomers who comprise Silvertide aren't alternative rockers who have some baby boomer influences here and there — they're a post-boomer band with a totally retro hard rock sound that is firmly planted in the '70s and '80s. The Philadelphia residents' bluesy, gritty, riff-driven songs are devoid of alterna-rock influences; their list of influences includes Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, the Faces, Guns N' Roses, the Who, and the Rolling Stones, among others. And ironically, Silvertide's members weren't even born when Zeppelin (which broke up in 1980) was still together.

What a great freakin' show!!! If you like bluesey hard rock you will love Silvertide. They were way better than I expected. I am officially a Silvertide Fan. It's like someone took The Black Crowes gave em a kick in the ass, a bottle of Jack, some adrenaline and a great guitar player. Every song was great and rocked hard. Walt Lafty is a great front man with amazing vocals and full of energy. There is much hope for rock n roll!! I met Nick Perri - lead guitar, Mark Melchiorre guitars and Brian Weaver - bass after their set and had them sign my CD and ticket stub. They were really nice and down to earth guys. I was half drunk and I'm sure pretty stupid but they were very nice and didn't mind signing my stuff and chit chatting with a drunk guy. I told the guitarist he was better than EVH he just laughed said thanks and signed my CD. I told them all that I heard about them on a web site called Rocknrolluniverse.com. If you get the chance to see them don't pass it up! They rock! Possibly the best show I saw all year and CD is fantastic too! Shinedown was O.K.... missed most of the opener.

They also covered "Behind Blue Eyes" and I like it alot.
I bet they could cover Aerosmiths Love in a Elevator really well.

Great stuff there Pete ! Thanks for giving us a plug. Here at RNRU are into many many classic bands and classic rock. Bands like Silvertide carry on that classic tradition of the led Zeps and more. This is why nobody should give up on todays music, the great shit is out there, I just make it my job to find them ! Silvertide have been in contact with me and sent me a couple of cool posters, cds, singles, etc. I have a new band that I just found called AMERICAN MINOR. They just sent me a cd called the Buffalo Creek E.P. In my opinion they are awsome ! www.americanminormusic.com

I really like the version of "Behind Blue Eyes" that they have done. I really wish I could post it. Granted, it is not very loud, but I still like it alot. They left alot of good songs off this album including Show and Tell.
