She was getting tons of hype prior to the Grammy telecast and it's actually very difficult to find someone who doesn't like her. I think she's OK but people really like her across a very wide spectrum. Also, her new single is getting tons of airplay.

Van Halen’s new album, A Different Kind of Truth, has hit #2 on the Billboard album chart. The first album with singer David Lee Roth since 1984’s 1984 sold 187,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week of release. The reunited Van Halen didn’t manage to topple Adele’s rule of the album chart, but it is an impressive comeback for a band that some thought would never work together again.
Van Halen will kick off a North American tour on Saturday, February 18, in Louisville, Kentucky.
More interestingly, frontman David Lee Roth has finally explained the “no brown M&Ms” tour rider stipulation that Van Halen demanded in their glory years.
Van Halen’s 1980s’ rider demands have often been described as the worst example of rock excess, the demands of divas. But, the group has always said the “M&M provision” was included to make sure that promoters had actually read the band’s lengthy rider. If brown M&M's were in the backstage bowls, Van Halen surmised that more important aspects of a performance – lighting, staging, security, ticketing – may not have been attended to by the show’s promoter.
It seems to be the fault of the Spectrum venue in Philadelphia and the sheer size of VH’s show… let DLR do the talking below.

There’s been plenty of responses like “I don’t know” and “We’ll see what happens” regarding Guns N’ Roses upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Now we have confirmation that the Appetite-era members will all be on hand for the ceremony.
While singer Axl Rose has made it pretty clear that he is happy with the current GN’R roster and doesn’t want to offend them, it appears that the one-off reunion performance may actually go down at the Rock Hall ceremony this April. Dizzy Reed, current GN’R keyboard player and longest active member besides Axl, recently told Billboard:
“I know that all the original band is going to be there. I don’t know exactly what’s going to go down. It’s one of those things I’m sure will all come together and be really cool. I’m just going to go in with a good attitude and a clear head and a grateful heart.”
Reed is not the only one excited about the possible on-stage reunion — shortly after Guns N’ Roses were nominated for the honor, current guitarist DJ Ashba told us he “would be the first person in line to buy a ticket” if there was an original lineup reunion. Ashba, however, also said that he didn’t believe it would happen. Though all the necessary parties will be in the room for the ceremony, Reed revealed that the possibility of the highly-coveted reunion isn’t something he knows how to address within the band:
“Honestly, we haven’t spoken about it. I don’t know when or why or how to bring it up. It’s not an every day sort of thing. So we haven’t really talked about it — but I’m sure we’ll have to at some point.”
Lets hope so. The original GN’R lineup — consisting of Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin, and Steven Adler — have not shared a stage together since April 7th, 1990. The band last performed at Farm Aid IV and dismissed Adler during the ‘Use Your Illusion’ sessions in July of that same year. Adler was replaced by Matt Sorum, who is also likely to be in attendance at the April 14th induction ceremony.

Introducing Ghost: Six Swedes Bringing Satan To The Masses
The goals of Ghost are simple. The mysterious Swedish six piece are looking to spread the message of “unholy gospel” by tricking mankind into believing the end is ultimately a good thing via the popular rock music medium. While they are not the first, nor the last group of metal musicians from Scandinavia setting out to share the message of Satan, they may very well have the best chance of breaking out of the metal underground and into the American consciousness.
The band’s debut album Opus Eponymous is a daringly fascinating combination of Satanic rock music merged with an unthinkable pop sensibility. Ghost is black metal at its most original and deceiving apex. Where many mortals would shy away from the sinister and very non-commercial sounds of Black Metal, Ghost comes at you sounding like the bastard child of King Diamond and Blue Öyster Cult. The group’s combination of pulsating riffs and lush vocal harmonies are specifically designed to penetrate your mind and stay stuck in your head for days at a time. Hell, these guys have managed to make The Beatles uplifting classic Here Comes The Sun and turn it into the soundtrack of the underworld.
The band is fronted by vocalist Papa Emeritus, a towering figure who looks a lot like the Pope. That is of course if the Pope was a devil worshiping black metal superstar. Further adding to the mystery that is Ghost, the remaining band members (2 guitarists, bassist, keys and drums) are known only as the Nameless Ghouls. Covered by medieval cloaks, their name and appearance are unknown to the general public thus allowing the listener to focus on the messages found within the lyrics.
With successful appearances on the 2011 European Festival Circuit, many of metals top stars have jumped aboard the Ghost bandwagon. Metallica front man James Hetfield was interviewed by a Swedish media agency decked out in a Ghost shirt while speaking very highly of the group. Phil Anselmo took the love a step further by inviting a few of the Nameless Ghouls out on stage to close out Down’s 2011 Download Festival set. Also decked out in a Ghost T-shirt, Anselmo even went as far as changing the name of the song from Bury Me In Smoke to Bury Me In Ghost.
For those who missed Ghost on their just completed inaugural trek of America you are in luck. Papa Emeritus and the Nameless Ghouls are set to return this spring serving as the opening act for the just announced Opeth/Mastodon co-headline tour.

I agree. I saw Def Leppard, Poison, Cheap Trick a few years back and Joe didn't sound too good. I've seen Def Leppard a few times over the years and Joe's voice has taken a turn for the worse.

I think I'm gonna be sick Warpig. This girl I know posted this on her facebook page. Are these fans serious? "Madonna is telling people to save thier pennies cause shes worth it. Only Madonna can be so blunt!" Well I'm not going to waste any time defending Madonna. I don't care enough one way or another about her but I could understand why especially fans would like it. It was however maybe due to the venue lacking any real energy that Madonna is known for.

Sorry to be the negative nelly here, but.... Tattoo grew on me a little after some airplay, yet it rates just an OK IMO. Stay Frosty is a throw away version of Ice Cream Man She's the Woman (Heard it yesterday morning), which I was actually excited to hear with all the great preview buzz, is not very good, frankly. DLR sounds bad on it, and while it is harder rocking, it is pretty disjointed IMO. Basically, from what I've heard so far, this stuff is exactly what it was meant to be, throwaway shit from a great band. None of these songs made it onto any of their albums for a reason. I agree. Listened to the songs on You tube, and they are just shit compared to what VH has released in the Roth era back in the late 70's and early 80's. You didn't like all thirteen songs? It's not just me. There are a lot of reviews starting to pour out. With every album there's good and bad reviews. The reviews for Different Kind of Truth are overwhelmingly positive. Even from places that where ripping Tattoo and Stay Frosty. Almost any album compared to Van Halen's first few will be shit but this is a good album and stands up well.

I'm on my second listen and I love it! DLR vocals aren't as good as when he was in his 20s but they still work in the context of this album. The songs are pretty good. Nothing like the best off VH1 etc but solid songs none the less. I miss Micheal Anthony's harmonies but Wolfie is pretty good on bass. Eddie? He still fuckin shreds!!!! So far my favorite is "Blood And Fire" I love it when Dave says " I told you I was comin back. Say you missed me. Say it like you mean it." followed by a fun guitar solo. I really like "Trouble With Never" and "Outta Space" too. It's all good. Eddie still has it, I have new respect for DLR and Wolfie isn't bad. Alex is of course still solid.

Poison are doing up another big summer tour in 2012.
Following last year’s trek with Motley Crue, the band will hit the road with Def Leppard for shows this summer – cities, dates and more are to be announced.
Poison drummer Rikki Rockett confirmed the tour news via his Facebook page.
Rockett’s info follows a recent interview Leppard guitarist Phil Collen did with AOL's Noisecreep, where he talked about the band’s summer plans.
"We're actually going to be back on tour around when the [film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical 'Rock Of Ages'] is out, and it would be a lot of fun to get some of the other bands featured in 'Rock Of Ages' out with us," he said. "Nothing has been finalized yet, but apparently Poison will be joining us — at least according to Bret Michaels, who has been telling everyone that they'll be touring with us this year. [Laughs]”
“We went out with Poison in 2009, and we all had so much fun,” continued Collen. “If it does end up happening like that, I would love for the third band to be someone like Twisted Sister, since they're also in the new movie. I think that would make for a great lineup."

Yes, Jeb has been getting a little bit of press from the book. I wonder if there was still a forum at CRR if he would blame low book sales on forum members.

Motley Crue guitarist Mick Mars has laughed off Vince Neil’s claims that he’s thinking of retiring from the band when their Las Vegas residency ends later this month.
And the guitarist reveals his long-awaited solo album could feature elements of death metal.
Mars is currently appearing with the Crue in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, with two-hour shows scheduled to take place until February 19.
But he’s convinced Neil won’t act on his recent comments about leaving the band to pursue other projects he might not otherwise find time for.
The guitarist tells Ultimate Classic Rock: “Okay, here’s my answer: Fat chance. That’s a good neutral answer, I think.”
On the contrary, Mars says fans can expect a new album within the next 18 months, along with the much-vaunted movie version of their book The Dirt.
“We’ve got the right producers, the right director, I believe. We’re going to start on that one either late this year or early next year. Then, probably at the same time, a new record. It’ll me like a double-sock in the stomach.”
While he already has a few riffs in mind for their next record, Mars has the rough outline of at least four songs for his own album. But that doesn’t mean he knows exactly how it will sound.
“I don’t want to say it’ll be, like, heavy – but something. I can’t explain it. I know what to do, but I’ve got to find the right way to do it.
“You can add elements of messed up, hard-hard-hard rock, death metal, with this really cool rhythmic stuff going on. I have to keep going on it. I can hear stuff in my head, but whether it’s going to work or not, I don’t know.
“I really want to do something that’s not, ‘Okay, here’s an album by Mick Mars, same boring stuff.’ I want to do something that’s a little to the left.”

Rock is often very masculine and maybe a woman could perceive it to be possibly misogynistic and banal.

I don't know I thought it was OK. Nothing great not too bad though. There some prerecorded vocals and music but not much more than the last Motley Crue concert I was at and it wasn't all lip synched. There was enough live vocals. Dancing wasn't awful. Madonna didn't move that much. I don't know who's idea it was but those boots with the massive heels aren't conducive to a lot of movement. The only mistake I noticed was when she was trying to mount those bleacher thingys. LMFAO was an interesting touch having about the biggest hit of 2012 so far. Nikki Minaj is huge not just with the hip hop crowd and was fine. M.I.A. added a little edge and I thought Cee lo was actually pretty cool. Like Spacel0rd I kinda liked 'Like A Prayer'. So overall I'd give it a 6. If I was more of a Madonna fan probably much higher.
I thought it was better than The Black Eyed Peas.

A lot of people like Madonna. Those people probably thought it was the best ever. If Roger Waters got out there and did a few numbers from The Wall I would love it and proclaim it to the be the best ever. Snakes will say how it was the shittiest ever. Art is subjective. Madonna has been around for a very long time she must be doing something right. How could anyone possibly say it was good, when she did the things that Jesse and I listed? I mean cmon man, you can't be serious Pete! I didn't see it myself so I don't know but I do know a lot of people that liked it and a lot of people who like Madonna. I'll go watch it and get back to ya.

Slash has announced that his new studio album will be available on May 22. According to a press release, the second solo disc from the former Guns N' Roses member has yet to receive a title.
The disc follows on the heels of Slash's celebrated, self-titled 2010 debut, and features the members of his touring band – Myles Kennedy (vocals, guitar), Brent Fitz (drums) and Todd Kerns (bass). Eric Valentine, who produced Slash, is also helming this record. The boys are still hard at work on the new songs, which were co-written by Slash and Kennedy.
"Myles and I basically collaborated on the new material. The main thing is we wrote these songs together which is a big difference from the last album where I wrote each song with all of the different collaborators," Slash said. "The whole creative nucleus is between Myles and me. On top of this, the whole rhythm section of Brent and Todd brings something to the table and changes the dynamic completely from the last record – it's much more cohesive."

I disagreed with you whole heartedly last year, but this year I think you are spot on! Even in the context of what it was (Madonna) it sucked. Blatant lip-syncing, dance moves that appeared to be in slow motion (clearly 50 is the cut off age for participants of that sort of stage show), choreography miscues and fuck ups and stoic performances. Black-Eyed Peas were looking pretty good after that were they not? What amazes me is that multiple people have told me that they thought it was the best halftime performance of all time. They are clueless. What do you think? A lot of people like Madonna. Those people probably thought it was the best ever. If Roger Waters got out there and did a few numbers from The Wall I would love it and proclaim it to the be the best ever. Snakes will say how it was the shittiest ever. Art is subjective. A Different Kind of Truth has been released in Australia. A little snippet from a review.
A Different Kind Of Truth is the hardest-rocking album Van Halen has released since the early 1980s. Those who were put off by “Tattoo” as the first single can rest easy as soon as they hear “She’s the Woman,” the heavy “As Is,” the “Ice Cream Man” style of “Stay Frosty,” the stomping “The Trouble with Never,” the career highlight guitar solo of “China Town.” And one of the album’s biggest surprises is the confident, downright dominating bass work of Wolfgang Van Halen.
