Oh man, I was thinking the same thing.
I check in here to find new music and undiscovered old stuff from time to time, though.
My own sentiments have already been eloquently expressed by Jesse and Space L0rd (Jamie)
I'm on fb too.

This band is nurturing an image mystique by performing in masks and not revealing their identities. A lot like Kiss. Lots of devil stuff though ((((Warning)))) Devil stuff... ((((Warning)))) Here ya go: youtu.be/CzzkemzfdfU

I've been getting quite a kick from this video for about a month now. Perhaps you'll enjoy it as much as I have. It's labeled a "fan video" but it's a slicked up montage of fan videos edited into a quaint homage to Motorhead. Everybody is named in the credits plus a "thank you" for the ones they didn't use which is a pretty classy thing to do considering it's from a band as raucous and maniacal as Motorhead! HAA! Sit down and... Enjoy: youtu.be/eI90KW_5Vso

Just when you thought it was safe to come back to Rikki's World of Rock...then Kim comes back outta the blue! Damn! I know, sucks and kinda severs the life out of a person now doesn't it? Anyway, just finally able to get back into this site after trying for some months now, and wanted to mention the Tragically Hip gig I went to last Friday. It was a great one. I won't go into details as most here most likely haven't heard of "the Hip" or really give a shit about this iconic Canuck band, but I have to tell you, it was a pretty good gig. ""yours truly" paid waaaaay too much for front row tickets, but it was worth it. Sound could not have been any better. Lots of room for moving around and boggeying to the quicker tunes. Would I do it again?...nahhh...there are a number of other gigs out there that could offer a lot more for the price paid for these tickies. I did this for a friend however, when he told me that, as a Hip fan, he was having "difuckalties" finding tickets,...so, using some computer savy, I was able to secure front row seats for the man. Enough of that...HOW IN THE HELL IS EVERYONE DOING HERE? I sure hope that all is well with ALL! Cool, Kim! Glad to see you're still around digging music and doing cool stuff. I'm super busy these days but still pop in here to read Spacel0rd's lists so I can find new music. Admittedly, I read everybody's lists, but that Spacel0rd feller, truly a list-O-holic ... HA!

If I don’t keep my music collection fresh with new music my life seems to feel stale. I totally get this, but I have issues with letting go. There's a handful of solid old bands that I run to over and over. I appreciate checking out the bands you guys mention. Having a concise starting point using your suggestions helps cut to the chase when it comes to expanding my horizon. There's mega-loads of music out in the wilderness, but I've only got so much time and man, there's so, so much, "Eh, ...OK, nuthin-special-bands".

They're probably not that popular around here but,
"My Old School" is one of Steely Dan's popular tunes. Admittedly, I like Steely Dan.
"Maggie Mae" , is indirectly about school, as we learn a bit of the story in the first verse that the kid is skipping school to get jiggy with an older lady. He, he. he...

I snarfed these off Youtube, so I apologize for the damn commercials. The Starz one i cut off at the end because the Segway into "Last Night I Wrote A Letter" is seamless. Some smarty pants put the basic gist of the lyrical content of the Rush song. Good thing, I didn't know hardly any of it. I want you to note, there's no "I Can't Drive 55" in the list at all. HAA! But it's not missed because all of these are loveable (i.m.o.) If you only pick one to listen to, give Saxon's Princess of the Night some consideration as it's a new performance from a couple of years ago and it's tight, loud and an exceptionally incredible version. The narrator's uncle has kept one of these illegal vehicles (the titular red barchetta sportscar) in pristine condition for some "fifty-odd years" and keeps it hidden at his secret country home (previously a farm before the enactment of the aforementioned Motor Law). Every Sunday, the narrator sneaks out to this location and goes for a drive in the countryside. During one such drive, he encounters a "gleaming alloy air car" that begins to chase him along the roads. A second such vehicle soon joins the pursuit, which continues until the narrator drives across a one-lane bridge that is too narrow for the air cars. The song ends with the narrator returning safely to his uncle's farm

A short list of songs I love that tend to get bagged on by folks that claim to be wise, music gurus.
1. Cherry Pie -Warrant. Even the songwriter winced when confronted about it's cheesiness. Yep, LOVE IT!
2: Cowboy -Kid Rock. I consider it a guilty pleasure
3: Rockstar -Nickleback. The song is awesome and I even like the video too. At this point the push-back on this band is a black comedy. Chad Kroeger is not to be underestimated. He's poised to cement his rock legacy across multiple generations.
4. True Colors -Cindy Lauper. Transcendent cheese. It's message is timeless and quite necessary, actually.
5. Freebird -Lynyrd Skynyrd. With the advent of disposable lighters, this song went into the lexicon of Americana pop culture forever. I never tire of this tired ol' goody.
6. Smells Like Teen Spirit -Nirvana. Untuned guitars, yeah. I get it, it's funky. But the dark, unsatisfied nature of this weird song make it great. I love the monotonous repeated droning rhythm and the screaming especially.
7. Music -Madonna. This song is just f'ing cool. The melody is super-simple but with ultra-smooth vocals and a lot of thump beats makes it infectious. Reminds me of partying in the city.
8. Wango Tango -Ted Nugent. The part of my brain that is madly in love with this song may easily be removed with surgery, but I will kick anybody holding a scalpel within ten miles in the teeth! Crass, fast, loud and fun.
9. Winds of Change -Scorpions. I suppose you need to be the of first generation to face thermo nuclear annihilation to fully appreciate this. It's a fucking masterpiece.
10. I Wanna Rock -Twisted Sister. Super-powered cheese bomb! Don't hate! Enjoy! Cliché gone wild. Yeah, baby!
