1. The Exorcist 2. From Dusk Till Dawn 3. Jaws 4. The Shining 5. Army of Darkness 6. The Fly (1986) 7. The Evil Dead 2 8. Rosemary’s Baby 9. The Omen 10. Event Horizon
I was thinking of involving Jurassic Park, because, to me, it’s a monster/horror/disaster movie like Jaws or King Kong. BTW, the original and new King Kong would be tied for 11 on my list.

I guess I could name 10 of them...?...but in terms of horror or shock value, some may fall short. I guess over the years, many of them have lost that calibre of impact on me. Growing up living above a movie theater, I had the opportunity to see many a great and classic horror shows over the years as a youngster. I recall being allowed to go to the "all-nighters" on a Saturday night at the age of 8 or so...(most of the times for "free" because the landlord of the building was also the projectionist and ran the movie theater). The movie marathons would start at 8pm on a Saturday night and end around 1 in the morning. They would show movies like "The Blob...Night Of The Living Dead...and any of the typical "B" horror fliks of the day. These ones didn't really scare me as much as they grossed me out as with Night Of The Living Dead did in turning me off of "spaghetti" for quite some time after witnessing these zombies rip out the intestines of their victims...must have had something to do with the "Technicolor" aspect of the whole deal back then???...and mom's sauce had a similar pallor to it? ?...hahahahahaha. I'd then drag my tired but somewhat worried ass back up the 2 flights of stairs in this old "Art Deco" style building to the apartment where I lived...some times to an empty house. It was a hoot jumping into bed wondering if any of those evil creatures had followed me back???....hahahahaha. I always lived to see the dawn of a new day though and would venture out into it, passing along my gory take on the previous nights extravaganza to my friends who were not allowed to take in such entertainment. For many, many, many years, I was pretty much nullified and numb to any effects a horror movie had to offer, with the exception of The Exorcist and to some extent The Evil Dead later on. Recently however, one movie has since come along and once again awakened the inner fears inside of me, and that was, "The Ring". Something about this one just kind of got to me. Brought back the "creepy, eerie" feeling I recall having all those many years ago...and one that I must admit gave me a chill up my spine. As chance would have it, I was alone that particular weekend when it came on the Movie channel, at 2 in the morning and so I settled in to watch it. I ventured downstairs afterwards to the washroom and as I made my way through the darkness of the basement, I couldn't help the feeling that I just might be taken aback by something not of this world...talk about getting your moneys worth from a movie!!! hahahaha... Jim mentioned "The Birds" and I must confess that when I first saw this waaaaay back as a child, it also had an impact. As hokey as it may seem these days, something about Hitchc*ck and the way in which the man tells a story but was able to justify it on the big screen proves that he was truly a master of instilling fear into his viewers. Very effective and The Birds is certainly on my list of top 10 as well. My picks... The Exorcist The Shining Alien The Tennant The Ring The Fly (The Original)...creeped me out as a kid. The Grudge Rosemary's Baby Evil Dead Texas Chainsaw Massacre - (Original) Thanks Kim

I have to agree with ya Jim...but in my case, it's my body that does that..."creaks & moans"...scares the livin' shite out of me every time...then I'm okay!!! hahahaha.
Seriously, we have a cat, and the damn noises we contend with is enough to freak a person out at times...and all she's doing is playing!
You're lucky Jim, at least when you hear unusual "house" sounds, you can chalk it up to one of those beautiful dogs you have challenging the floorboards and know damn well that you are safe cuz those fellas are on your side.
I meant to tell ya by the way, what great looking animals they are!
I pity the fool that ever tries to break into your house...hahaha.
Thanks Kim
