…. Still making great albums (to the extent that they make albums anymore)?
Originals or not, I feel, Molly Hatchet has made some great albums the last 20+ years. I'm gonna count them even though it's now been 8 years since their last album, "Justice".
Fairly new, but still been around for 10+ years and are on their 6th album of fine material, Blackberry Smoke fits the bill here. Last two albums were a little disappointing, but their latest, "Find the Light" is pretty damn awesome.
I guess I can count Judas Priest because "Firepower" is pretty damn great. However, that ended a dry spell where they put out several subpar albums over the 20 years prior.
I dunno, the rest of my favorites, I've pretty much given up on ever getting another great CD out of. Good maybe. Acceptable probably, but not "instant classic" great. Maybe it's me. :/

I still love Iron Maiden's albums...I enjoyed 'Book Of Souls' a lot and the album 'The Final Frontier' I thought was their best album since 'Seventh Son...'. Maiden is my favorite band so I am a little biased. I disliked most of their output without Adrian Smith...but I still think Iron Maiden is hitting the mark. Their live shows are still amazing.
Judas Priest-'Firepower' kicks ass....I thought 'Redeemer of Souls' was fair.....and I liked 'Nostradamus' and 'Angel Of Retribution' a great deal. I was not a big fan of the Ripper Owens era...although I like Ripper a lot.
Fates Warning....I don't think they have ever put out a bad album....a couple of the mid 90's albums could have been better....but I really dig the new stuff and their body of work as a whole is great
Flotsam And Jetsam-Great band and highly underrated
I still find myself buying Megadeth's new albums....the are not as memorable as the first 6.....but they are still putting out quality material
Alice In Chains-Still putting out great albums. While the Layne Staley era is timeless and classic and the first two albums were the best....the last two albums are also great and better than the self titled 3rd album. I am really looking forward to their new one
Armored Saint-One of my favorite bands...and def my favorite American heavy metal band. Never a bad album with these guys. Only 7 albums since '84 but for me its quality over quantity. Their last album 'Win Hands Down' is pretty bulletproof...
