What artists do you enjoy the hits pack well enough, but could never get into the individual albums?
For me it would be: The Doobie Brothers Journey Styx Bachman-Turner Overdrive
I'll probably think of some more later.

Hmmm....that's a tough one because usually if a band had enough hits I liked I would explore their catalog.
U2 up through the early 90's. I have never owned an album but I like at least 15 or so of their songs.
Loverboy is another. They have some good songs but never felt the need to buy an album.
Aldo Nova....I think I had the self titled album with "Fantasy" on cassette in high school.....but probably would not revisit his back catalog. He had a few good songs I liked.
Doobie Brothers is a good call. I like some songs and sick and tired of others. I respect the band but would probably never buy an album.
Journey is another good call. I actually like the band well enough and really appreciate Steve Perry's vocals .. their 70's stuff is all pretty good. I could go either way with them.
The Eagles have plenty of songs I like....but most of their hits I am sick of. Probably would never buy an album. I do think when Walsh joined they should have utilized him more for his songwriting. His solo albums in the 70's and early 80's are proof of that.

I was actually going for artists in which you did explore their catalog and discovered that their "Greatest Hits" was enough.
I was going to do another thread of artists where you got their greatest hits and liked it, but not enough to explore their catalog.
For me, these artists would be:
The Cars Moody Blues Highway 101 Grand Funk Railroad Gordon Lightfoot Eddie Rabbit Don Williams Creedence Clearwater Revival Delbert McClinton Cheap Trick Queen Rosanne Cash Stevie Nicks (solo) Sweet Ten Years After

Cheap Trick would not be one of those for me...their first five albums are stellar. The most under appreciated album of their's the George Martin produced 'All Shook Up'...which is one of my favorites of theirs. I also found that Cheap Trick has a lot of deep cuts that were just as good if not better than their hit songs.
I used to have that two disc Cars Anthology...I love the Cars but that Anthology has most everything you need. I always loved Benjamin Orr's voice and Elliot Easton's guitar playing. I need to get another copy of that.
The Eagles I had dove into somewhat....but mainly the 'Desperado' album and the Walsh era stuff. Again I like many of their songs but I find I would rather just listen to Joe Walsh.

Eagles hits are fine, some of the other cuts on their albums just don't cut it for me. "Outlaw man" is cool though.
