Without consent from Congress, Obama gives up 5 top taliban prisoners for 1 US POW who provably deserted and may have conspired with the taliban against us. WTF? IS Obama really this stupid or is he just fucking with us to see what he can get away with doing without the media (or his own party) holding him accountable. Before saying that I'm just a Right-wing partisan who would criticize Obama over anything, ask yourself what YOUR reaction would be if W Bush had made a transaction like this.

It's an end of the war exchange that has a long, long (centuries old) historic precedence. I do not understand why dumb news like this eclipse's our horrendous runaway train of election financing that's given birth to a true Plutocracy, the total annihilation of our 4th Ammendment or our massively broken immigration system. At least the prisoner exchange is work that is actually being done and moving in forward direction.

At least the prisoner exchange is work that is actually being done and moving in forward direction. Hey, that's good spin. A lot of people are buying it, so, hey, who am I to disagree? I would like to know when the war ended....and how? I missed the memo. Did the Taliban surrender? Did WE surrender? Was there some sort of treaty signed to end hostilities? If there was, I didn't hear about it and if there wasn't, well, I don't understand how anyone can say that this is an "end of war exchange". In fact, I think Obama has even admitted that these guys will likely go back to the battlefields and find ways to kill more Americans (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/obama-bergdahl-deal-circumstances-american-soldier-back-article-1.1814986 ). But, let's say that it IS an "end of war exchange" with a centuries old precedence: is it also a "centuries old precedence' to trade 5 top level prisoners for a guys who deserted? Is it also precedent to prisoner swap with a terrorist organization as opposed to an actual Country? As for the other stuff you bring up, hey, I understand that there are a lot more problems with this Country. This was just the thing that got my goat on a certain day that I happened to have time to write something about. Just because there may be other, arguably bigger, problems with this Country and/or presidency, doesn't mean that this issue isn't worth bringing up. Personally, I think it is borderline treasonous.

Another thoughtful retort Jesse, thanks. The nature of the conflict makes for a new way for it to end. We beat the enemy-without-borders or sovereignty to their holes, stuck to a timeline and got our one and only POW back before we shut the door. The alternative is to abandon the dude. That's just not very nice at all. If he's a twit, so what? We'll take care of that here in the USA. We don't, after all, farm out our justice to the Taliban, do we? LOL
