After a good Saturday at work I went downtown to check out Lynch Mob. Opening the show were
two local original bands....one of which is called Widow who are friends of mine who play classic
80's style metal. The other two bands were local tribute bands Out Of The Cellar and Mostley Crue.
Out of the Cellar was good. They had the right wigs for each guy and the singer who looked like
a very fat Stephen Pearcy sounded just like him. Both guitar players did the solo somewhat good
although they didn't stick to exactly to who did what(THe Robin Crosby guy played the solo to
"Lay It Down"...?). Also the Warren guy kept grinning this cheesy grin the whole time and it looked
like his eyes were going to pop out of his head.....kind of wanted to smack him after a while. This
same guy also did the Mick Mars part in the Crue cover band who sound much like the band.
Finally after a long intermission.....Lynch Mob came out. From the start the sound was very good.
You could equally here George's lead and rhythm guitar in the mix. His sound was great. The whole
band sounded great. I was disappointed that Brian Tichy was not on drums and I didn't recognize who
the drummer was. Younger guy with short hair.....but was a really good drummer. Lynch came out
playing the sea foam green ESP Telecaster you see him playing in the 'Slow Drag' video. That guitar
sounds really good. Its basically a sea foam green version of the Ronnie Wood Telecaster. He played
that for about half of the songs and the other half he played a relic'd HSS Strat that he probably built
and a Tiger Stripped ESP which was really nice. In the excitement of the show.....and because I had
a good buzz....I totally forgot to see what amps he was using. I will have to say that Lynch played his
ass off. I really didn't notice him make any mistakes or sound off. The Dokken stuff he nailed....which
conisted of "Mr Scary", "The Hunter", "Into The Fire", and the encore closer "Tooth and Nail". Most of the
rest of the set was newer era Lynch Mob and 'Wicked Sensation'....."Hell Child", "Wicked Sensation",
"River Of Love", "Sweet Sister Mercy", "All I Want", "She's Evil But She's Mine", "Slow Drag" and about
4 other songs. Robbie Crane is the perfect bass player in this band. He fits really well. Apparently he was
the original bass player before Anthony Esposito got the gig back in the day. Crane and the new drummer
were locked in great with each other. Great rhythm section. Oni Logan sounded great. All the stories I have
heard where he doesn't pull it off live did not show last night. He might not he able to hit the higher stuff
that he used to but his voice still have the soulfulness and power that I remember. He has just the right amount
of grit. Its good to see him singing so well. I really can't express enough how well George played. He didn't
disappoint at all. I was half expecting him to be somewhat off and he just wasnt. I think part of it is that the
rest of the band is playing really well. George looks really good for a guy his age to.
I took some pictures from my cell phone so the quality is not the best:
