Kim why so pessimistic?
There are economic problems but N. Korea doesn't have much of a military power to meld. They wouldn't be able to take over S. Korea much less China. Economically China is growing but has it's own problems. India the world's largest Democracy will soon pass China in economy and population.
North America will be OK even if O would get reelected.
Hey Pete! How art thou?
Hope all is well you buddy.
Nahhh...not being pessimistic, just being realistic...kinda like the liberal (or democratic) version of being optimistic...hahaha.
I find that things have been too darned quiet on that North Korea front as of late and in all honesty, have to say that "military force" is ALL that they have and would be willing to use it to their advantage regardless of the outcome in the times that we live in.
They just don’t get it. They have no desire to dust off their rifles from the 50’s…and
instead are really anxious to push that big Red Button that they have their finger on.
As far as all of the military posturing goes, when you see the grainy, lack-lustre film
clips of the soldiers marching in step goes, that’s just a physical maneuver to keep
the troops in shape so that they can trample over “women and children first” when they
start running like hell upon seeing that huge Portobello mushroom cloud rising on the Western horizon.
China is too busy as of late catching up on lost economic ground over the years and are enjoying the fruitions of their contributions as they delve into becoming a somewhat more democratic and economic superpower...(along with watching the
HKE)…haha.
See...they'll be letting their guard down, just as we did, and have, over the last many years...only to send out the message to others that "we want some of that too"...and do whatever it takes to get it!
Middle East?...well there's another issue. Palestine.
This should be good for a while?...Who knows?
Keep yer eyes on the news in the next while on that front.
As far as India goes...they just don't seem to harbour the same amount of aggressive nature that some of the other countries appear to
have these days. World dominance just does not appear to come across as part of their collective agenda. Big?...yes. Threatening?...No...at least it doesn't appear that way?
??
Unless you consider world dominance through the continuance of the population explosion that they continually seem to have a hankering for?...and the fact that,
like China, you too can purchase a nicely woven cotten t-shirt, made in Bangladesh
for $6.97 in any WalMart outlet. You guys most likely get it for something like $4.97
because the good lord knows just how much more expensive it is to ship the shit
to Canuckville than it is to the US.
Duty fees and Import taxes for a 1000 points Alex!!!
Doh!
Back to North American turf, I'd be highly surprised to see the
big O get another kick at the cat unless he and his administration can pull a rabbit out of a hat?...and if he and his cronies do find a solution, will congress back it up?...Somehow I doubt it from the past trials and tribulations that they've been arguing about since
the Reps took over...GO Boehner Go!!!...
Obama could come up with a simple cure for cancer tomorrow at the behest of slaughtering 3 cows on any given Sunday night during a full moon and Congres would find a way to stymie it!!!...so don't expect any progress or solution to any
of the issues until next November, and by then, nobody will give a shit because all attention will be focused on who the next "saviour" will be.
Fuck it!... let's not mince words, the focus appears to be on that now, and not how to resolve the economic issues of the day at this point!!!!!!!!!!
The USA has been stranded in a shit storm since Obama took
over the reigns from the previous Bush regime and has yet to dig it's way out.
That said, North America will be in a rut until at least 2013 because it’s going
to take at least a year for some Republican wizard to fix the problem for some,
while creating further problems for others…that’s just the way it is.
That's my prediction at least for the time being. Again, probably WRONG.
Here's a good thought though, maybe once Romney or Perry get's the nod in 2012, then, they can all jump back on to the same bandwagon and see if that helps?
If it does, it may prove one thing...that it doesn't matter who's in the
"Big House"...it’s about who’s willing to work together to make things right,
or at the very least, make things a bit better.
(My personal thought is that your next leader will be
President Romney). Kinda has a nice ring to it eh?
As long as the Americans are not referred to as “Romulans”…Doh!!!
My only concern is, once this comes to be, what nation
will be the focus for declaration of war? Will President
Romney go after Greece for defaulting on payments and refusing to claim bankruptcy?...or should he continue to attack
countries that may have some oil...kinda like Curious George
did?
Glad the Weapons of Mass Destruction were discovered and disabled in Iraq and good to see that the war in Afghanistan is being won and is making a HUGE difference in all of our lives.
(Ooops!...was that “out loud”?...slam against George...sorry.)
Yeah yeah…I know, before you hit me, O still has us all involved and is
part of the plan I suppose?
The Taliban are patiently sitting there winding their collective sun dials
in accordance with the eventual "pull out" of the troops...gathering their
gear and making notes as to how to prevent further interruptions to
their way of thinking in the off chance that this happens again once they
get back into the “big chair” and resume running their country.
These pesky little disturbances surely must be somewhat of a nuisance
for them don’t cha think?
(The previous Russian empire must be spilling Vodka on their
collective laps laffing their arses off over this one).
Yeah yeah yeah...I know...ALL of the terrorists have been
shot and killed, Hussein was found in a hole...Hanged! and Osama was shot, dumped overboard, and life is good again...............................
.........yet the Department of Homeland Security will be kept in place...just in case...cuz you never know when the enemy may attack again!!!!!!!!!!!
(and I ask myself...just who won this so called WAR...)?
This playing “footsie” when it comes to war has to stop.
“I’ll shoot you…and then you shoot me” doesn’t really work on the
big scale of things. What needs to happen is an offensive repeat of the
second world war. Little trickier these days, I’ll admit…but if we are the
first ones as a nation out of the stop blocks, I’m sure that we’d win the race...
and the war along with sending the message to the other upstart little countries
that we are not ones to be fucked with.
Boom! yer gone! NEXT!!!
Sad reality is…that’s how you win the war…just ask Japan.
North America as we know it is becoming very, very scared...and wants to return to a more stable, conservative mode...and is not one to take chances like we did a few years ago, because there really hasn't been enough of a “Change”, especially for the better under the tutelage of the current government. As far as “Hope” goes…you might as well start that one off with “once upon a time”.
We have a majority Conservative Government here now in
good ole Canuckville, and guess what???... and yes, “yours truly” predicted that one!
It ain't getting any better here either on any of life's levels...even though they can now slam home their best wishes and thoughts regarding political policies whether it's through Omnibus Bills, cuts to services and tax reforms and who knows what else they have up their political sleeves these days?
Just isn't going to solve the problems that we all appear to be burdened with on a global level.
However, the status quo (<--- See how I snuck in a musical reference to my favourite band...pretty cool eh?)
... seems to be alive and well. One that
tends to placate and subdue the electorate into believing, although times are tough, things will get better under a staunch conservative leadership...especially one that
hides their face from the media that hounds them on a regular basis for a simple
interview for answers as to just what the hell is going on and why the big secret?
Pessimistic?...no.
Realistic...YES!
Oh yeah, I'm sure that the economy will eventually rebound...at least to some degree here in North America...but in all honesty, we are no longer the big engine that drives the global choo choo train.
Those days are gone. We'll gain some ground back...to a degree...for a short while...but the longer that we give in to countries like China and Mexico, and continue to ship our economical "oomph" to these people at 2 cents an hour on the dollar, to in turn, have our goods shipped back to us at the cost of our own inflated domestic needs...we're pretty much toast and will further dictate just what it is that we need to do in order to compete and lessen our standard of living in the process.
Anyway, just a thought or two from a simple Canuck, who like my
American friends, am not happy or content in the direction in which things are headed.
Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, and Liberals aside...we really are ONE.
ONE that wants what's best for our continued success for the
great culture that we have come to know and love in regards
to a way of life. Let's face it...we have it pretty damned good
and we won the so called "lottery" being born and raised in this
great continent of ours...it sure would be nice to maintain that
great way of life now would it not?
I certainly have no solutions to offer up at this point other than maybe we need to go back the old days and once again start
relying upon ourselves...our expertise, our resources, our own people, and our own economic wits within our own borders in order to survive and go head to head in a competitive global market.
Here's something...
The next time China needs some "steel"...sell it to them for
90 times the price of what we would pay. If they can't afford it in order to make some crap toys for our kids...so be it!...Go ahead!
Process your own steel!!!...Buy your own crappy goods!!!
We'll process OUR own steel...and provide jobs to OUR own domestic forces to manufacture and supply OUR own toys on OUR own front...then we'll sell em back
to China!!! at 8 times the price that we pay for them here.
If they don’t like it…tuff tits!
Chew on yer “lead” based dinky toys and pencil crayons then for all I care.
Not sure about you guys, but I for one would love to once
again see a label saying "Made In The USA" or "Made In Canada"
in the retail market. Again, those days are gone.
Bottom line, the more that we seem to allow ourselves to become
separated, the more that we need to come together and hold
steadfast to what we once stood for.
Yeah, I realize that there's a lot more to it than that...but
somewhere along the line, we have lost the plot...and sure
would like to see us find a solution to the ongoing problems
that we face...and will be facing in the years to come.
Sometimes, there’s a part of me that really doesn't give a shit at the age of 52,
but there are other times, such as this, that another small, fiesty, part of me,
refuses to roll over and lay down in order for our collective governments along
with big corporations that really are in charge of the governments that WE elect, to
sell out it’s own people, at the cost of further widening the gap between the rich
and the poor, at the same time, making it more difficult to compete with,
to begin with and is reason for the above rant.
Most likely wrong on all points mentioned above, and that’s okay because
you know what?...
I feel much better now…let the flaming begin.
By the way, I just heard about REM calling it quits after an illustrious
30 year career…I’m gonna miss those guys…I’m a fan of their music
and in honor of their decision to call it a day…think I’ll slap on
one of my faves from their voluminous musical catalogue…
Yep… you guessed it…
“It’s The End of The World as We Know It”…and for what it’s
worth, I DO feel fine!
Thanks
Kim
